I need some new hot sauce recommendations. Some that can go anything, some taco/mexican specific, wings, I need it all. Bored of the standard ones. I also hate trying random ones from the store for $10 a bottle that suck and end up straight in the trash.
i like these companies, I err on side of verde ones (perpetual hatch szn for me). Heatonist from Hot Ones also rotates options but their Caliente Verde/Roja are both very well done. If you live in a recreational weed state, finding hot sauces with THC are fun as well; I have a basic roja from Bozeman that I will do with eggs. https://highmesachile.co/ https://hellfiredetroit.com/ https://smallaxepeppers.com/
https://www.thepepperplant.com/ I really liked this stuff, it was on the table at Pebble Beach restaurants and me and my buddies got addicted to it. You can buy it on amazon. I've had the original and chunky garlic.
Can’t go wrong with Crystal or Texas Pete imo but there’s a place in Asheville called Fire From the Mountain that makes amazing hot sauces
Crystal is my “always have in the fridge” go to. For hotter stuff that’s easily sourced I love el yucateco
like many millennial honkeys I love a good small batch hot sauce but I still haven't found one that goes as well with fried chicken as Texas Pete
Secret aardvark is amazing on anything. dirty dicks is a little sweeter and good on meat. Hippy dippy green is a verde style. Great on tacos
Cholula gets used a lot by my kids. RIP Jardine’s Texas Champagne. It was my favorite hot sauce. No idea why they stopped making it.
Ha I didn't realize that was a chain. There is one near me in the touristy area of town, shocker. They must be moving some serious product cause rent can't be cheap here. That or it's a front.
I had a buddy start a company and their stuff is great https://bravadospice.com/ highly recommend the Serrano and Basil, Pineapple Habanero, and Black Garlic Carolina Reaper
They have one in LR and their garlic line of sauces with different peppers is actually excellent. Their horseradish hot sauce is the best bloody mary hot sauce I've ever used.
I know there's an entire thread dedicated to the show, but Hot Ones has a bunch of great hot sauces and are sold through https://heatonist.com/ Their Classic variations (more mild) are all really good Their Los Calientes versions (medium-hot) are excellent and I personally always have them on rotation They've also got a Hot Ones Sriracha that is also excellent. The entire Heatonist website has 1000s of hot sauces that you can ship to you with great descriptions and notes
I've had this one before and it's excellent on chicken wings. I'm sure it's great on other things as well.
this one is good for seafood boils as the label suggests, sometimes will use on chicken but a bit on the runny side. https://heatonist.com/products/the-crabby-shack-zesty-lemon-pepper
Your friend is the creator of Bravado?! I’ve tried all their sauces. Love them especially the pineapple and blueberry one
I use Secret Aardvark on pretty much everything. Life hack someone on this board put me on to is when it gets 25-35% left in the bottle, fill it back up with mayo to create an excellent aioli sauce. They also make a Chipotle sauce that's extremely mild, but adds good flavor to breakfast tacos. That black garlic carolina reaper sauce tastes good, but it'll get you if you add too much. I've also been on a Marie Sharp's Nopal Green Habanero kick lately.
Yup, use to work with him and the other cofounder in a retail job I had. Their margarita mix is also legit.
Haven't opened this one yet. Have a stockpile in the pantry and about 6 open in the fridge. Got a couple super hots already open so still waiting. Let me know how your version ends up, love any garlicky sauces.
I have a mild addiction to tobasco also use a half bottle of their chipotle version any time I eat at chipotle
I don't know the other ones but Secret Aardvark is great. A little bit goes longer than you might think though, at least for me
If you like being surprised with a different one every month, I’d suggest a subscription box. You pick the heat levels you want and they send you a bottle monthly. I used Fuego box, but there are several. Just google them.
Used to love Cholula, but had it for the first time in years with a breakfast burrito last month and could barely taste it. Years of more flavorful and hotter sauces has spoiled me. Sometimes I'll grab a 6-count of deviled eggs from Publix while waiting for my son's soccer practice and throw some Texas Pete packs on there since that's what the store gives away. A very enjoyable $4 snack.
