yea, haven’t we paid more than anybody in the country to make people go away the last 10 years lol God what a pathetic program.
what I'm sayin here is, didn't our program just say another year of Scoot Farts was worth it to save like 8 million? That's impressively cheap.
lmao at them expecting Bryce to be back. I mean, it would be cool as shit if he did, but nobody is expecting that.
Huskers.com says he’s a Junior. I could have sworn he was a senior but I guess the free COVID year and free transfer rule is throwing me off.
Knowing Nebraska it wasn’t to save 8 million it was actually to do anything possible NOT to fire this clown so after he goes 5-7 next season they can say it’s progress and keep him around again. At this point I’m convinced we’re just stuck with this “he’s one of us!” bull honky.
Per Huskers.com the seniors are Verge Webster Lakes I thought Walker was also a senior, I know he graduated last year.
That game was so damn awesome though, besides the heartbreak. It felt like the perfect momentum swing and the snow started coming down harder. Was one of the games I can vividly remember in the stands
Just leaving this here. Nebraska made a transfer offer today to Abeline Christian DB Ryan Stapp. He was a 2nd team All-WAC selection in 2021. hahahahahahahaha.
this led me down a rabbit hole because I had no clue Abilene Christian was in the WAC. if anyone can name more than 3 current WAC members without using Google, I'll be impressed.
Tarleton is a full member I believe, as is Sam Houston but they are leaving after next year to the luscious green pastures of Conference USA. WAC was completely demolished by realignment, they literally had to drop football for a while lol
So most of the southland left? Honestly had no idea. The division 2 I was at beat both Tarleton State and ACU. Some talent they were! The bbq in Stephenville was good as fuck though
Yeah that was painful news as a former Idaho Vandal coach in NCAA14. Pretty sure Chicago State is in the WAC for bball. Also Tarleton trails Gonzaga by 2 with 7:00 to play. Time to put the WAC back on the map.
If we don’t hear something today I’m going to assume there’s no plan and we’re going to hire more bankers.
Id guess Frost had Riley pegged for OC so I could see there being a little delay now that we’re on to Plan B.
I would love to be part of this cycle. Nebraska is not what it once was but I guess if this year proves anything it's that silly money can do things sometimes. That and we're in a division that's just asking to be taken by someone competent.
The silly money has come with recruiting hot beds as a bonus. We cannot even secure Omaha let alone the 500 mile radius.
Do you think that has more to do with the coach and his lack of success or the city I'll hang up and listen
Come on. If you don’t think Nebraska is inherently at a disadvantage in recruiting vs LSU/USC you are lying to yourself. and Frost is a lazy recruiter before you think I am coming to his defense.
Oh, for sure. We are definitely at a disadvantage. I'm not saying Nebraska is anywhere close to the pull of USC or LSU. But a competent coach that recruits hard can do just fine here. Probably consistently top 15 in recruiting rankings.
We should be winning recruiting by 30+ places in the West every year and with a competent coach and staff, definitely should be able to compete for West titles every single year. We already regularly have more talent than teams we consistently lose to.
we do, but part of our problem (and I think this is consistent through the last … well, almost all of the coaches) is we don’t have any consistent idea what we are recruiting towards. Wisconsin doesn’t recruit as high, neither does Iowa, but they know exactly what they want and for what. Nebraska seems to adjust philosophies every couple years. With Scoots it went from small, fast guys to tall dudes at wr. I have no clue what a running back is. You get a Yant, you get a Rahmir, you get a Morrison, you get a Marvin Scott. None of them even have anything you can kind of hang your hat on. Wisconsin is simple. Big, powerful, good vision. (For most part) with lineman that are big and powerful. Sometimes they hit the nail on the head and get both (John Taylor) Either way, we develop bad and we don’t really seem to have a cohesive approach to the type of players we can recruit. You either have cohesion in the approach (and hope to land a Johnathan Taylor) or you have to be able to develop and get creative with athletes and be able to adjust on the fly your philosophies based on what the players are showing you. we do neither.
Fuck, Alabama is a prime example of adjusting philosophy and how they approach the game on offense. You could argue it’s been a detriment to certain areas but it still works because Saban & staff continues to develop whatever kind of player they bring to campus. They also always seem to have a plan in place for what they want to do. They changed up offensive identity and now recruit elite level wr talent & 5 star qbs instead of ground and pound. but, they ALWAYS develop what they recruit (even if they are cherry picking top-tier talent)
I was talking to my dad after the Iowa game and I was saying that Iowa and Wisconsin are just robots and they plug them in. Good OLs they develop, running backs that can find a hole and carry the load, Iowa always has a good TE, and both teams have disciplined LBs that make plays etc. Nebraska it’s like we try to interchange Falck and Manning, Yant and Belt, just consistent Square peg round hole situation and no organization or plan. Plus development has been a joke for a decade.
