I've been to the track a few times and so far have only bet W/P/S and a few quinellas. Anyone have strategies or things to look at/try?

The way I usually bet the horses are

    $5 W/P/S = $15
    $2 Exacta Box with 3 Horses = $12

It is very fun but I feel like I never win so I haven't done it in a long time

Do you bet the favorite W/P/S? Or a good value horse? And on the exacta box do you tend to pick the top 3 morning line horses?

I handicap it and try to bet a good value horse at 3-1 or better. Exacta box is strictly handicapping who I think will be there.

    Better bet - 2 $6 quinellas or $2 3-horse exacta box?

I honestly don't know a horse track that allows quinellas. Ive never bet quinellas in horses

My local track does. I assumed that it was a universal bet.
