Rewatching some of that footage always reminds me how unique Trump's charisma is. These people are fucking disasters. None of them can chase a single thought through their own head. In aggregate, politically, you might call them "heterogeneous" but most of them just as individuals have an undiscernable ideology. They don't even have the brain power to have an ideology. What a scatter-brained mess of people enraged by their own idiocy. And yet, somefuckinghow, Trump cobbled them together into this vile, cohesive AF butt caucus that's completely devoid of sentience. Trump, purely by roll of the dice of history, happens to be the perfect sort of persona to herd those rabid cats together. It all ends when he's gone, and it can't come soon enough.
Anticipatorily, I wanna say please do not label this malignant thought/behavior as evidence of mental illness. Violence, hate, obstinance, etc are not attributable to a diagnosis. People don't support Trump because they're ill. They support Trump because they're awful. They might also be ill, but awful.
Not all of it, but most. I really think it's the cult of his personality that somehow holds millions of them together. The field is packed with immitators trying to replicate what he's done, and none of them can get remotely close. Ron DeSantis is trying to out Trump Trump, and the Trumpers fucking hate him.
