Michigan letting themselves be Harbaugh's Plan B is incredible.
OSU could stop recruiting for two years and still not be vulnerable to UM at this point
harbaugh to the lions
another one for you MG2
I would be fine with Harbaugh coaching the Lions if it weren't for the baggage he'd be carrying as the Michigan coach (from UM and MSU fans) from the start. I think Harbaugh would be a really good hire for several teams with openings. I don't think he'll get a job because of the PR of it at this point, though.
Michigan wants to renew their vows, while Harbaugh is just out their spreading his legs for any takers from the NFL.
How does Michigan not just fire him at this point. You can’t let him sign a big contract extension and hold you hostage when the on field results also suck
How does Michigan not just fire him at this point?
Quite the paycut.
At least they have a damn good basketball team, football is pathetic
So that W2 is going to be for 4M then
Looks like we need a thread title update
Now who is his DC going to be
Feldman said they were close on Saturday. UM writers have said he had the deal on Monday but hasn't signed it the last four days. Jim's contract negotiations historically are all over the place. I'll believe it when he signs it, and the fact they're talking like they won't announce or sign anything until Monday seems just as shady as all the other reports I've been reading for the last three weeks.
You don't know that. What if the incentives are
Finish top 3 in division
Act Weird And Awkward At All Times
Yeah, that's the big one. Gets him an extra $500k each year.
If the contract is $4 million with incentives and a low buyout, that’s not a bad deal. I can also see why harbaugh is exploring the NFL before signing that.
Cant be good at football, too many teams cheat at it, that’s not not the case in college basketball. At least this is story um writers, admins and many fans try selling.
I’ll take this over a retread
with how bad him harbaugh has been at choosing coaches recently it’s probably smart to just hire guys the good harbaugh has already vetted and coached with
I am a bit surprised that he didn’t see if our DC got a HC job first. Probably a sign that our DC wasn’t going to promote him if he got a job and that the ravens have someone else in mind as the DC if martindale leaves.
I have no clue what the incentives are here, or if there's stuff beyond the base compensation that gets him into the $6M range or whatever. But I've thought for a while that both sides believed the best scenario was Jim getting an NFL job, and that reported extension has done nothing to convince me that wasn't the case.
While Jim meddles in the offense there’s not many hcs that give as much autonomy to their dc’s. If Jim is giving the keys to this dude, John had to have given a big time recommendation. Especially with all the experienced retread dcs available.
knew Mike while at UGA. Pretty unreal rise up the ranks.
I think this is a good hire.
well now I'm confused and dont know what to think
I didn’t know Celemo’s daughter was drawing pants these days!
No one has any idea what to think of the hire. It's completely out of the blue. His name wasn't mentioned anywhere until this morning. What we know of this entire process (pretty much nothing) doesn't inspire much confidence, but I like taking a swing here over hiring a retread you have to overpay who may not really care that much anymore. I'm just not sure if they're taking this swing because he's that good of a candidate, or because his brother told him he's a decent coach and Jim went with it to cross that vacancy off his to-do list.
A lot of us have wanted him back at UGA in some capacity for awhile. He's a very good defensive mind, young, personable.
Just hope Jim stays out of his way.
Hell yea BlueSam
congrats to all involved
There are going to be a lot of drunk people in Columbus tonight.
feel like this guy is gonna headbutt a few holes in the locker room wall during halftime
well yeah, it’s Friday
Larceny Bourbon seems like an appropriate booze for Harbaugh making more money from UM
Have you looked at the contract? I'm pretty sure he would have made as much in 2021 if he didn't agree to anything and made UM fire him now instead of after next season.
I'm floored he signed that contract.
we don’t really want you here but we don’t have any other candidates so take a massive paycut or go to the nfl
seems great for all involved
Does he get any bonuses for crooting trophies, September heismans, or 3rd place conference finishes? I should have been his agent.
Best sleepover coach in the country.
Seems clear he didn’t have any real NFL options
