I have mixed feelings about the final season. One thing is for sure: the show deserved better. There were moments and entire episodes that were on par and very good. But I thought the plot became hard to follow and confusing so much so that it ruined the season for me. That is basically a product of bad writing. Spoiler Why would Carolyn want Villanelle dead? Villanelle just killed everyone in the 12 which is what Carolyn wanted. I guess Villanelle is a loose end but still.
Spoiler Villanelle was her ticket back into MI6. Remember how she mentioned that you can't go back empty handed? So basically she let's Eve have the 12 without a fight but not without it costing Eve. It was a bad season overall. Too much going on.
Did anyone else think the last season was jumbled , seemingly random and hard to follow at times, and not very linear , or was that just me? Spoiler I feal like the Gunn story line was very random. Felt like all of sudden Villanelle was on an island with Gunn who had not even been very well introduced up to that time.
To me they took all the ideas that they had for the show and decided that they were all worth exploring (they weren't). Usually a sign that a writer has too much influence.
Yah, again I think the writing and plot development left a lot to be desired and the show deserved better.
Way too much was introduced in the final season. Spoiler Even the random couple in the finale I’m like why are we even spending time here with like 20 minutes left in the whole damn show? The whole Gunn angle was a waste of time too. Even Pam. I liked the character but why? What was even the point? It’s one thing if her training built up over seasons so there was a payoff to her walking away but she just got introduced. Why should I even care about her?
The entire final season was a mess. No one had any reason for anything they did. Maybe the whole let's change writers every season thing was a bad idea.
I think my biggest gripe, and this doesn't feel spoilery, is that we didn't learn much at all about what the hell The 12 does. Did I miss that? Seasons building up to the secrecy and we got a glimpse of like one person involved and it had a weak backstory. Other than hiring assassins did we ever really get an understanding of what they are? Spectre they are not.
Yeah got excited with the sort of genesis meeting but then it turns out the 12 we meet aren't the 12? Like only 1-2 of them stayed in but now there are others? What is their plan and how did they not realize Helene is killing them?
Yeah I knew what they were hinting at sometimes but did they ever talk about what they actually accomplished or why they were so important? At the end it felt more like a personal issue with the main characters than taking down some major org. Just not well told.
What a dumpster fire. Sad that season was the way they ended it. Pam was fun addition. The arrow/Gunn thing was a really stupid way to get them together. I honestly get lost at times with who was on what side.
