I don't feel like it's crazy to wish terrible things would happen to Buddy. He even treats his coaches like they're sub-human. And how's he going to pull the "I was joking! You thought I was serious" shit after telling a coach to get him a hamburger. Of course they're going to take you serious.
Two people at fault for Wright's fuck ups... Fair catch protocol is a DAY ONE instruction on special teams. Feet at the ten and fair catch in front of you...if it's over your head let it go. This is drilled into every returner even in Pop Warner. Wright is primarily at fault for not following simple protocol...and if he didn't know that protocol then the coach is a fucking idiot because he never should have been put back there in the first place.
another outstanding Buddy trait: when he starts barking at someone, they are automatically being a smartass or giving him attitude if they give any reply whatsoever the OC was literally like "yes sir" in about the most calm, deferential way possible and buddy still went off
A nice Christian man. I hate his self therapy camera sessions where he asks himself questions to make himself seem reflective and capable of change.
No one did that better than Vince Vaughn in The Break-Up: "Does it feel good to be champion? Yes it does."
If the best player your program produced is on Texas Tech's defense...consider shutting down the program
he's just parroting what the producers ask him, it's pretty standard reality tv tactics. they're peppering him with questions constantly trying to invoke an emotional response or some semi-introspective answer so they can weave it into their story. they knew what story they'd tell this season basically by the time they wrapped last season because they'd already spent time framing Buddy as a hothead and a jackass. even with Ms. Wagner it was probably a producer prodding her with a statement like "don't think you Buddy is making superficial changes instead of true changes to his character because of what happened last year" and she says something like "he's just making changes on the surface not changes true to himself" or something. not defending Buddy but anything that isn't like game or practice footage you should take with a heavy grain of salt because there's someone off-camera poking, prodding, asking questions, making them do something over again, etc. to get the right shot. all anyone needs to know about Buddy you can get by condensing all the practice and game footage of the past two years down into probably the hour or so total they encompass. that's him at his most unfiltered. he can do or say the "right" thing (especially this season because he's hyper aware of the cameras) when he has a second to think it over but when he's on the field he loses control of that and shows his true self. I guess he skates by right now because despite everything else he wins but I don't get how people see that and decide they want him representing their school or how kids see it and want to go play for him. I guess some people respond to that stuff but that was never how I was coached as a kid and not how I'd want my kids to be coached. I'm guessing given how he's shown up on the show, the second he strings together two bad seasons the school will dump him and probably give the ex-OC the job. or it could be sooner regardless, maybe that's why they convinced the OC to stick around and not coach this season.
Thats 12 kids to D1 schools, Im afraid its as simple as that. Playing there will make sure you get seen
EMCC isn't special at it, JUCOs are literally built to get kids to 4 year schools. even Ms. Wagner said after last season the amount of attention from coaches increased dramatically. you'd have to think it will do the reverse once coaches hear it won't be back for season 3 and they won't have a chance at screen time or being talked about on camera. also I'd basically bet you money that last season directly influenced a large number of this season's attendees. I'm not saying EMCC will disappear this season and beyond but all anyone will remember about them really will be the fat jackass who coaches them.
Eh. East has been doing this long before the TV show started. Their recruiting will be just fine. I would guess a large amount of the attention increase is because coaches had to do extra background on these kids, because the last thing you want is to sign a kid and then have him look like a jackass on a TV a few months later.
the cast is still good. there's enough kids wanting to turn their lives around to make you feel good and a couple shitheads who just don't care so they can play the bad guys. Buddy has a really good arc and by the end of the season you can see the contention between him and literally everyone else (including producers/cameramen) so it's got a good finish. it's still a good watch, it's just not as "holy fucking shit" as season 1 because they got beyond lucky being at a school that not only had a ref punch a coach but had maybe the best brawl in the last decade.
Teair Tart, big DT prospect at EMCC got kicked out. It was assumed he was heading to bama. I imagine he had to have killed someone to have gotten kicked out of EMCC
I don't think Kam will make it. Too much of a fuckup. I can't blame Ms Wagner for leaving. I wouldn't have the patience to babysit a bunch of childish ass shitheads.
I don't think it was about the kids. I think she potentially had issues with the coaches because she works on one thing and they work on another they probably didn't communicate well between each other to give the best output for the kid. I think 90% of it was "I'm a young, single mom and I don't want to grow old in Scooba."
to be fair, do you really have a problem with alcohol if its really the only way to get through the day, isnt getting drunk a medicine at that point
I hate Buddy with all of my being. I truly hope this show somehow causes EMCC to lose out on prospects and the whole program just goes down in flames.
Tim Bonner clearly isn't very intelligent, but I actually liked him more than the vast majority of the players in season two. All of my other thoughts have already been shared. Fuck Buddy Stephens.
EMCC Radio Guy: You just can't rattle Deondre Johnson Freakness: He sure can rattle a female in a bar
Wagner initially left to make more money. She got fired from that job within a few months for trying to start a side business poaching her employer's clients and constantly lying about her whereabouts.
