Anyone else out there buy/build sets still? Got a couple Star Wars sets over the holidays and have been nostalgia’ing hard. I wish I was flush with cash to buy that special edition Millennium Falcon
I buy sets for Meatball, he was big into the MCU stuff but has shifted into full Star Wars mode...he no longer needs my help putting shit together trauma doc I work with is balls deep into Lego as a stress release. He has the big ass Millennium Falcon, Death Star, and Super Star Destroyer on display at his house...those kits are crazy big. have recently thought about maybe getting a couple Architecture sets, those look kinda cool
Bought the Saturn V rocket for myself for Christmas; it was a ton of fun. I hadn’t built a Lego set in probably close to 20 years.
The franchise licensed stuff was a master stroke for Lego, when I was Meatball’s age I had sets like the midevil castle or the generic moon base, etc. Meatball’s last build was the AT-ST from The Mandalorian. I would’ve creamed my jeans for Star Wars LEGOs at that age
The mini-fig market is a fucking racket to be sure...Meatball & I have probably spent close to 100 bucks on the ESB bounty hunter figs for his collection
When I was 10 I was way into Legos and my 4 year old Niece used to sneak off and shove them into her snatch, so I couldn't play with them when my sister brought her over. She is now a total skank. Thanks a lot, Legos.
Should pool our monies together and buy a millennium falcon, then TMB meetup to eat good food, drink good drink and assemble the beauty
I played some LEGO PC game religiously as a child, I remember being scared of some angry pizza robber. Not sure if that’s the same one
Wife and I used to build them a lot before kids. We have quite a few of the City ones, we splurged a bit. Now they're all stored away in a closet. Kids are almost old enough to use them though. We've got the Tower Bridge still in the box and we were about 1/4 the way through on the Death Star when baby #1 came. Still haven't finished it... The Falcon is ridiculous at 7500+ pieces, we won't even think about getting it until the 2 little ones can help build it without trying to eat them
The Lego games are amazing. If any of you have a 6-11 year old you need to get a Steam account and get them games cheap. I may have a couple extra Steam codes for them.
5 year old loves her legos. We have to be careful when we use them so the 2 yr old doesn’t swallow them. Can’t wait for them to get older and buy some bigger sets for them.
Got my 6 year old Attack on Avengers Tower for Xmas. Started assembly off/on a few days ago together. I Fucking love Lego’s. He’s been into them for a while now and dads pretty fired up about it to say the least (as the top assistant). He just builds and destroys. And I get to re assemble. Great stress reliever. Lol
When my dad was a B-52 bomber pilot he used to build models as a tension release, I couldn’t hang because I had no patience or the dexterity. Legos was an easy substitution
Pizzas were involved. I remember being able to shoot them from a helicopter or something. Think it was called lego island
My 5 year old is deep into the lego world. We have season passes to legoland and he did just about every lego city set last year. He has done about half the architecture sets with my help. Now getting into Jurassic. It’s better than watching TV or screen time so we support it. He plays with his legos all the time.
I got the Millennium Falcon UCS set the day it came out. HEAP YOUR PRAISE ONTO ME!!! Took about 2 hours to actually buy it because the site kept crashing. Almost bought two to sell the other one on eBay trying to minimize the cost of that thing. Ended up just buying the one. It’s still in the box, not because I’m that NIB don’t touch it ever guy. Just haven’t had the time and space to put it together with a new born then, almost 3 year old now at home. New house though so once we’re moved in I will finally have a place to put it together. Just need to sedate the boy nightly for about a month.
Flew in the 70’s-80’s til he got benched for hypertension. His squadron was the next to go to Nam but the war ended.
When my nephew was around 6-7, my brother bought him a nascar car for Christmas. Thing was complex with building the engine and everything. I spent a few hours putting that together for him. I give it to him and within 30 seconds he smashes into the fireplace, stands up, and runs to me saying crash in turn 3. My brother just laughed and said guess you need to build it again.
Our X-mas.....I mean, the 5 year olds X-mas haul. Last year he got a lego table for Christmas cause his teacher said he would sit and play with the one at school for hours on end. It’s filled with Avengers, Ninjago, and Star Wars sets right now. We are, wait, he is also obsessed with the LEGO movie 2 game on his switch.
