Story was great in Mafia 3. They really caputured the look and feel of the late 60's in the south. That being said, mission structure was very repetitive.
none of that stuff's in 2 or 3. idk if you played at all, but nearly everything in 2 and 3 ties into the main story.
2 >> 3 >> 1 Played 3 first, then went back and played 1. The archaic controls ruined it for me and like Hoss Bonaventure, I did not care for the mako exploration
The inventory system in 1 was archaic by that year's standards. It took away from the experience. 2 (best combo of gameplay/story) 1 (best story; rough gameplay) 3 (best gameplay; ok story until the end)
It's ME2>1>>3 for me personally. They all have their flaws, but as a whole are all very good games. ME1 had Mako controls and controls in general were clunky. And also when you fought adepts they would just continuously knock you over like assholes. But the story telling is the best of the series and was just an absurdly fun game to play. ME2 had the tedious planet resource farming and that's really it's only knock. ME3 obviously had the shit ending choices, but the multiplayer was really fun. Really hoping they take the controls from 3 and can do as good of a job with the story telling as 1. Basically I just want ME2 with ME3 multiplayer.
Everyone surviving on my blind Insanity difficulty playthrough on the Suicide mission is definitely one of my favorite achievements in my gaming career.
I always do my first play through of every game on its hardest available difficulty, so that I get a feeling of accomplishment that I had to learn and master all mechanics of the game in order to beat it. Where every secret armor, item, weapon ect is needed to win, and every scrap of money and xp to be max level and still the game makes you earn the victory.
The first hour of a lot of big RPG's aren't good, I just hope the interface stuff isn't so bad it detracts from the game. It seems like that stuff shouldn't be that hard. Witcher 3's new interface is so much better than what it was at the start.
Post those ea access thoughts if you have them, fellas. I won't be able to check it out until the weekend.
Part of me wants it to bomb so I can keep forgetting the ending to 3. I'm also enjoying Zelda too much to give this a second thought for many months.
I've only played up until you become the pathfinder, on an Xbox One (not S), and no multiplayer but it didn't seem to run well for me. Pacing seems off too because of the scanning you have to do to get resources for R&D upgrades later. I stopped everywhere to scan everything and on the first world there is a lot to look at but I didn't because I was too busy looking st the ground to scan plants or items.
I'm not going to start the campaign until the full game is out so I can properly binge play. The multiplayer is still fun tho.
Easily one of the most disappointing sequels I've ever played. I doubt it will be that bad, but I do have a very uneasy feeling about it.
Yeah but "that bad" is still a really low bar. I have trust issues with bioware now because of that game.
Read somewhere that this isn't even the same people that made the other games. Something about EA slapping the bioware name on EA Montreal (now Bioware Montreal). This team apparently did some DLC's and that's it. The real bioware is currently making a new IP. No clue how true that is, though.
what are the issues? work computer blocks kotaku and rock paper shotgun, so i cant read their write-ups.
A lot of people with early access are saying the first few hours are bad. Bad writing/voice acting/story and an awful pace. Couple that with a review embargo from EA and it feels like dicks.
i did get to read a guy from Forbes say the starting planet is not a good spot for them to start the game, and to give it time because 2-3 hours isnt enough to really judge a game like ME. voice acting, while it makes things a little less enjoyable, im not gonna kill a game for it. it's pretty bad in Horizon but that game is amazing.
I will say it did get better after the intro world. Seemed smoother and started building the world more. That said there were 3 spots where I was talking to an NPC and right after selecting my response the game froze for 2-3 seconds. I thought it was gonna crash out honestly.
