Rapids deal for Buddle from Galaxy Posted on December 14, 2012 by Franco Panizo Photo by ISIphotos.comThe Colorado Rapids wasted no time in finding Conor Casey’s replacement. Minutes after the conclusion of the 2012 MLS Re-Entry Draft, the Rapids announced they traded for LA Galaxy forward Edson Buddle. Colorado dealt allocation money and its first round pick in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft in exchange for the World Cup veteran. Buddle had become surplus to requirements with the Galaxy and failed to produce much when he did see the field in 2012. He started 10 of the 19 games he played in during the regular season, scoring three goals and assisting on one other.

Finally Agbossoumonde signs with MLS, to be placed in lottery Posted on December 20, 2012 by Ives Galarcep By IVES GALARCEP Young American defender Gale Agbossoumonde has seen his fledgling career take a variety of winding twists and turns, taking him from Europe to the NASL, with a U.S. National Team cap earned along the way. What Agbossoumonde has been unable to find as a pro is stability. That might be about to change. Agbossoumonde has signed a contract with Major League Soccer and will be placed in a special lottery to determine which team he winds up being placed with, sources have confirmed to SBI on Thursday. The lottery will take place today, with Toronto FC, the LA Galaxy, Seattle Sounders and FC Dallas among the team in line to try and land the former U.S. Under-20 national team centerback. Agbossoumonde, 21, most recently played for the Carolina Railhawks. He spent two years under contract with Portuguese side Estoril Praia, which sent him on loans to Swedish side Djurgarden and German side Eintracht Frankfurt. Prior to that, Agbossoumonde spent time with Portuguese side Sporting Braga. The move to sign with MLS comes less than a year after Agbossoumonde turned down a contract offer from MLS before joining the Railhawks on loan. A member of the U.S. Under-23 national team player pool a year ago, Agbossoumonde was sidelined due to injury, which kept him from taking part in the U.S. Under-23 Olympic Qualifying campaign.
The Galaxy sign FW Gyasi Zardes to a HG contract. He had offers from Freiburg and Nurnberg, and would've likely been the #1 overall pick in the SuperDraft if he was eligible. Galaxy also look to be signing Carlo Cudicini: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/soccer/news/20121220/galaxy-carlo-cudicini/index.html?mobile=n
1m Tottenham Hotspur @SpursOfficial We have reached agreement for the transfer of Cudicini to @MLS side @LAGalaxy. We wish Carlo the best for the future: http://bit.ly/UhlDa5

Yea fuck everything in the world. He's rated at like 2.8m pounds or something stupid if they wanna make it permanent. I refuse to believe that's all he's worth.
Zavaleta signs Generation adidas deal By IVES GALARCEP The 2013 Generation adidas class moved a step closer toward completion on Friday with the addition of another top college star. Indiana University sophomore standout Eriq Zavaleta has signed a Generation adidas deal and will be available in the 2013 MLS Draft, sources confirmed to SBI on Friday. Ron Waxman, Zavaleta’s agent, confirmed the signing on Saturday morning. Zavaleta, 20, helped lead Indiana to the 2012 NCAA title, scoring 18 goals during his sophomore season. A centerback who moves to forward before the 2012 season, Zavaleta projects as a central defender on the pro level and projects as a Top 10 pick in the 2013 MLS Draft. The addition of Zavaleta brings the Generation adidas class to five players, at least officially. Andrew Farrell (Louisville), Mikey Lopez (North Carolina), Walker Zimmerman (Furman) and Jason Johnson (VCU) were the first four GA signings announced by MLS earlier in the week.
People say he was ready to move on but to something bigger to further his career, how is going back to Colombia furthering his career?
Seriously. That whole thing is pissing me off. He needs to go to Europe if anything. I know there's interest.
Zavaleta so much was really really good at playing with his back to the goal and facilitating things for others despite scoring a ton of goals himself the Dynamo are the team I would like to see win the most due to Will Bruin but wherever Zavaleta ends up will probably pass them up
Forgot to mention it but the Red Bulls dumped Lindpere to Chicago. Maybe it's just me but I always feel the Red Bulls get the short end of all their trades in the MLS, give up more value then they get in return.
I know Lindpere has been a problem with "chemistry" (for lack of a better word) and has some problems with Backe, but I loved watching him play.
Full schedule will be released on Wednesday. Ryan Nelsen is leaving QPR (where he's played 19 games this season) to become HC at Toronto.
Too bad, they had a smaller version of Seattle with the fan support and they have thrown it all away.
I mean why the hell would you hire a manager that will immediately be vilified? There isn't a person in Toronto that can get excited for that hire. Then there's the issue of them overpaying for players seeking one last pay day and being totally ok with letting young talent walk for pennies.
Trailer for a Seattle Sounders documentary. Looks pretty cool. http://theoffsiderules.com/American-Football-Trailer/solo

DC signs 20 year old Brazilian striker Rafael from Bahia as a DP. It's a 1 yr loan with an option to purchase. Also the cap hit for him is only $200k for the young DP rules.
Looks like nearly every weekend has at least 2 televised games, which is great for the summer. Had no idea what UniMas was, but apparently that's the new name for Telefutura.
Livestrong Sporting Park to host 2013 MLS All-Star game Posted on January 10, 2013 by Darrell Lovell By DARRELL LOVELL Major League Soccer is taking the 2013 All-Star game to Kansas City as the league announced Thursday that Livestrong Sporting Park will host the summer showcase July 30. The game will be broadcast on ESPN, Univision, TSN and RDS at 8:30 p.m. ET but an opponent has yet to be announced as the league is slated to take on an international opponent for the 10th time in its history. Leading the MLS contingent will be hometown manager Peter Vermes. The Sporting Kansas City boss has turned the club into a perennial power in MLS, taking the Midwest outfit deep in the Eastern Conference playoffs two years in a row while bagging the second US Open Cup in team history last season. The MLS contingent will be looking to make it two in a row after D.C. United’s Ben Olsen led a 3-2 win over UEFA Champion’s League winner Chelsea last summer at PPL Park in Philadelphia. The win improved MLS’ mark against their Atlantic counterparts to 6-2-1. The decision to take the game to LSP heightens the venue’s status of one of the premier stadiums in American soccer. SKC’s home is a strong possibility to host a US World Cup qualifier and has become a hub for soccer activity.
The Portland Timbers were looking for a playmaker to spearhead their attack, and after a lengthy search, they landed an exciting option in Argentine Diego Valeri, who joins the Timbers on loan for the 2013 season as a Designated Player. The 26-year old featured for Argentine First-Division side Club Atlético Lanús from 2003-2009 as well as 2011-2012. He featured in 158 matches and has scored 25 goals and was the team captain and led his side to the 2012 Copa Libertadores Round of 16, the club’s best ever finish. “Valeri is a tremendous acquisition and his desire to join the Portland Timbers was an integral part in getting him on loan,” said Timbers general manager Gavin Wilkinson. “At his age and with his ability, we expect to be in a position to purchase this player and make him a permanent fixture in Portland.”
FC DALLAS SIGN PERUVIAN GK FERNANDEZ The Hoops made a strong move to bolster their goalkeeping corps today as they signed Peruvian international and former Ligue 1 ‘keeper Raul Fernandez. While the 27-year-old hasn’t seen much time with French side Nice over the past few seasons, he featured with Peruvian side Universitario between 2005 through 2011, making over 140 starts. He also has started in six of Peru’s nine 2014 World Cup Qualifiers. This signing will eliminate any need for FC Dallas to add a third goalkeeper. And the club hopes that Fernandez will share experience towards Chris Seitz to get the top goalkeeping spot for 2013. SPORTING KC CONFIRM ZUSI TRAINING WITH WEST HAM Before Graham Zusi heads off to join the US National Team in Los Angeles next week, he is spend the week in London with Premier League side West Ham. While many do not know if this stint is for training purpose or for a future move, Zusi will have the opportunity to impress Hammers boss Sam Allardyce for the next few days. Zusi is also joining fellow US National Team teammate Juan Aguadelo at West Ham before the pair head back to join the January National Team camp later this week. SOUNDERS CONFIRM MONTERO DEAL CLOSE While many Seattle Sounders fans are assuming that striker Fredy Montero’s loan to Millonarios of Colombia is complete, the 25-year old may have jumped the gun on the news. Sounders owner and general manager Adrain Hanauer confirmed today that the loan deal is nearly done, a day after Montero tweeted a supposed farewell to Sounders fans Wednesday with him leaving an airport. Sources confirmed to SBI a week ago that the deal had been agreed to in principle, with the final thing to be sorted out being

Red Bulls to name Sousa head coach, Reyna expected to be lead assistant Posted on January 14, 2013 by Ives Galarcep By IVES GALARCEP The New York Red Bulls are the final team in MLS with a coaching vacancy to fill this off-season, but sources tell SBI they have settled on the top two men in their staff and it is two coaches recently linked to the club. The Red Bulls will name Paulo Sousa head coach as early as this week, sources confirmed to SBI on Monday. He has already accepted the position, leaving the delay in announcing the hire down to processing the transaction. Sousa was first linked to the Red Bulls job by Alexi Lalas more than a week ago and he has been chosen to lead the team under the new front office leadership of Andy Roxburgh and Jerome deBontin. Sousa recently stepped down from his coaching job in Hungary. Sources also tell SBI that Claudio Reyna has been offered the role of being Sousa’s first assistant, and signs point to him taking the job. One source has told SBI that Reyna has stepped down from his position as U.S. Soccer’s youth technical director, a move that clears the way for him to join the Red Bulls.
