Tobias please see the below list and our wheel, which we recently removed chilis and spun it. It landed on *gulp* Golden Corral. Spoiler
Golden Corral is gross and I unabashedly used to love it both as a kid and a 20-something with a high metabolism.
Have always wondered how long training is for a Cheesecake Factory cook to be able to prepare their 600-page menu.
Honestly pretty fortunate to land Golden Corral in July because I can do a big hike or run and then eat it. Not sure I could fully dive into the experience without physical activity and planned hunger. we intend to give all these restaurants a rating, but but felt it makes sense to wait until we’ve eaten at several before we start giving reviews. For example, Chili’s felt like an elite experience, but who knows if I’ll feel the same way after eating at other chains. I need to be able to compare them to one another.
My wife and I were on the road Memorial Day weekend and stopped at an Olive Garden. It was a fun little date. We sat on the same side of the booth and everything.
It is honestly the place we are all least excited about. And making the list, we had two criteria: First, popularity and amount of locations. And secondly, trying to ensure that we hit every category of chain restaurant. So that included buffet. We really went back-and-forth on whether we needed to add in places like macaroni grill or Carrabba‘s, but felt it would be best to just stick with the most popular chain for that type of cuisine. Which is why we have Olive Garden.
The only evidence I have from our chili’s trip is a text from a friend. I’ll take more detailed photos in the future.
Well I thought this thread would be safe to open while my grandson was sitting on my lap but I guess not.
In a proper nation Golden Corral would not be allowed to exist. Look forward to following this thread and bro's monthly post-meal diarrhea sessions
I love chain restaurant ratings so much I’m a Patreon subscriber to the Doughboys podcast. I got reinvigorated on chains during the pandemic because of their head start on curbside service.
Used to eat at Chili's growing up every Sunday (lol) and recently ate there and my stomach hurt for days afterwards. Younger Upton Squared was built different
between this and my idea for Best of Leafly reviews, I think I could operate a compelling Instagram account that had like 3,000 followers.
The Texas Roadhouse closest to me has over 2500 google reviews and is sitting right around a 4.5 star rating. that's insanely good.
Famous Dave's would have bene a nice landing spot. Is it the best BBQ in the world? of course not. Is it BBQ? Yes.
My wife ordered Olive Garden to go the other night and got the $6 breadsticks and they came in like this gigantic gun case with what seemed like 50 breadsticks. Was an insane deal
my wife's grandparents are rich rich but grew up super poor. every time we would visit them they would want to go to golden corral. that place is god awful. grandma has gotten much better on restaurants since grandpa died but we still went to applebee's last time. it also sucks but not even close to the shit tier food of golden corral
It's been a while, but if feels like PF Chang's the only quality restaurant on that list outside of Cracker Barrel for some breakfast. Could have a good feast there, then burn some calories walking through the general store and maybe pick up a nice rocking chair or nicknack Went to an outback on a whim and it was so terrible. Same with a random Olive Garden. Think we had a bobo coupon lol. For the content I hope Hooters lands on a wheel spin
family didn't eat out a lot, but we hit up Cracker Barrel and FD's. The main thing I recall from Dave's is the cornbread. the amount of butter in it to get it that moist must be insane. I never cared.
Too bad Cici's Pizza didn't make the list. Buffet used to be like $4. Now it is $9 (thanks Joe). But I'd like to know how that pizza hits these days
Took my kids a couple months ago, I too was radicalized into voting Trump when I saw what Cici's was charging these days. It's pretty shit pizza, but I was able to keep it down.
this was the hang out spot for us as kids, for some reason. we'd clear out the deserts just to make them bring out fresh ones, so we could then eat those. we would also ask them to make pizzas that were not out on the buffet but were on the menu. My understanding is: it was never that good and is only worse now. shame. BBQ pizza and their bacon cheddar ranch pizza really hit the spot for 16 year old me.
Have never encountered any of this guy's videos before, but he fucking rules. Thank you. Good luck bro I look forward to following along.
You should really think about a YouTube channel. Think you could really drive engagement starting each episode with the wheel spin.
