Going to my first sounds game this weekend :D
Will be there with a crew from SCRI this Monday. You should come Walt, we will get you hired.
If you get a chance, check out Chris Stapleton. Guy is a great songwriter and has a fantastic voice
lol why the heck is it taking so long
Who is everyone voting for for Mayor? (and therefore who will Suttree inevitably hate for the next 4 years).
I think Berry has got my vote.
His debut solo EP came out today
they haven't even had the debates yet
I'll wait on that
Yeah if they plan massive projects without public input and push downtown development at the expense of other areas of town like Dean has in the final years of his tenure, I will hate them. I was very pro-Dean till he blindsided us with his stupid plans for the AMP though. Remember that stupid project you were in favor of? Lol, idiot
Barry* and Kane are far and away the smartest candidates in the field. Barry's husband is good friends with my dad. He's an organizational theorist. I can't really decide between the two but one of them is getting my vote
Don't they narrow down the field to 3 or something?
I would vote for Kane in a heartbeat but I don't think he makes the final ballot
Lol says someone has his vote for mayor, doesn't even know how to spell their name
Totes lol, bro
I'm going to Barry's bootcamp in the gulch today so I guess my vote is Barry based on that sound logic
Megan Barry has been nothing but a cunt every time I've been around her. Fuck her and her faggot husband. I'd burn the city down before I'd vote for her.
Walt....come on, man.
Ryan Bingham opening for Eric Church for the inaugural concert of Ascend. He's worth the price of admission, then leave before Eric Church.
yeah, not a Barry fan. I like Kane, but have serious questions about whether he could actually run a city. I think he has good ideas, but there's an actual business side to it as well.
development in this city has gotten insane & out of control. no zoning ordinances to prohibit the new trend of split lot homes that don't fit at all with many of the craftsman type houses in the historic neighborhoods (Belmont, 12S, sylvan park, east side, etc.). new residents continue to pour in, and no one seems to have an answer on how to improve on the infrastructure & transportation throughout the city. then there is the public school system, which is pathetic.
Nashville is about to become the next Atlanta, except worse
The roast pork one that they only serve fri-sun is the best...but the regular one is great too
Your overall point may be true, but the highlighted part can only be an opinion because its 90% incorrect. There are plenty of zoning ordinances and all of those split lot houses fit their current zoning requirements. There are also plenty of obnoxious restrictions with the types of buildings you can and cannot put on those lots. Tall and skinny houses can no longer be built (which are the houses that "don't fit in" the most) on these lots because of restrictions. You can drive through Sylvan Park (I'm using it as an example of good replication) and most of the new construction houses fit the mold of the neighborhood. Frankly, if it "doesn't fit in," its probably because its a new build compared to a 1940s build.
Also, I think its hilarious that East Nashville, 12S, Melrose, etc become "historic" neighborhoods once white people like them. They were the devil's country less than 10 years ago and now people are up in arms about the development. Music Row and Belle Meade are historic neighborhoods and should be treated as such.
Public schools and public transportation are huge issues absolutely.
This mayor needs to hold developers accountable and stop handing them everything they want. Build like you live here is a sign I see all around town, amen
So many homes and developments are being built on lots originally zoned for no more than a couple units. But with Dean at the helm it's whatever, just rezone. Hopefully the new mayor won't stack the planning commission with developer-types like Dean did
that right there is my point - they do fit the current zoning requirements, and there lies the problem. the style & look of the homes are changing the historic fabric of the hoods I mentioned. I live in a historic zoning overlay; 2 blocks away are streets that are not within the overlay. the difference in the look of homes is staggering. in some cases, there are as many as four homes on one single plot of land. you can literally piss on your neighbors' house thru the window of your own home. no one (i.e. mayor) is doing anything to prevent it. they/he has basically created the culture.
it goes way beyond the color of skin with regard to development, fwiw. agreed on both music row & belle meade, but lmfao if anything will ever be developed at the latter - waaaaayyy too much money & political pull.
That's your opinion. Unless you can prove how the "historic fabric" is changing, basically you are saying you don't like the developments/multiple houses on one lot. Not bashing at all...just saying its entirely opinion and not fact....aside from the Mayor allowing it to happen etc.
Many people would argue the exact opposite argument that Nashville is a growing city and its a good thing that people are moving to the Urban Core.
the hot girls in that class >> any other fitness place I've been to
It is not just an opinion that zoning variance after zoning variance is adjusted or lifted to accommodate developers, many of whom are from outside the area and simply building for profit and not as members of the community. Again, that's not opinion
If you love out of town developers and want them to make even more money off this city going forward, then Freeman is your mayoral favorite
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – More economic revitalization could be coming to Music City, pumping millions of dollars into the local economy and creating hundreds of jobs.
Topgolf, an entertainment and golf facility, wants to redevelop approximately 22 acres on Cowan Street on the East Bank of the Cumberland River.
Topgolf is a sports entertainment facility with point-scoring golf games for all skill levels, bar food and drinks.
The area is now a part of town known more for rocks and dirt.
Tuesday night, the Metro Council voted on the second reading to change the zoning on Cowan from industrial to mixed-use.
It means Topgolf is one step closer to moving into the east side of the city.
If the zoning changes, the development manager of Topgolf, Ted Heilbron, says the company will begin building.
Right now, the lot is vacant. It’s the site of Sequatchie Concrete Service, a supplier of concrete construction materials.
The project would generate millions of dollars and create 500 jobs.
“We have $8 million worth of site-level payroll. We are very proud of our site-level economic impact. We’ll pay north of $30 million in taxes directly to Nashville over the next decade,” Heilbron said. “We believe in Nashville. That’s why we are here.”
The entire project is expected to cost $20 to $25 million.
If the zoning is changed from industrial to mixed-use on May 19, Topgolf expects to break ground by late summer and open 10 months later.
Hitting wedges and drinking beer sounds fun to me
Nashville Football Club kick off their season Saturday night at 7 on the Vandy campus. NFC are worthy of your support so hopefully many are able to attend
Speaking of soccer, regular tickets to the USMNT are now on sale too
The West End space previously occupied by Outback is going to be converted into an outpatient birthing center for low-risk pregnant women. Wow. That sounds awesome!
Went to the Ryman last night saw Leon Bridges and Lord Huron. LH was fucking awesome, one of the best shows I've ever seen. First time in the balcony and I was impressed liked those seats better than my Chapelle seats on the main floor.
got to talk to Bridges after he opened for Marco Benevento at The Stone Fox back a few months ago. I remember thinking that show had tons of guys in suits in attendance. Sure enough he's blown up since then
I'll be in town for a buddy's 30th birthday party next week. What's the best place for day drinking? Two couples, all 30.
Acme, Tootsies, Rippys, Rebar imo
I've said it a million times ITT, but Soulshine has a fantastic patio for day drinking. They also have live music during the weekends.
Yea, that's an oversight on my part
too many people are moving to Nashville
start talking bad about it
Considering how the highway system is built around the city (multiple major interstate crossings within a few miles of each other), traffic is going to be an absolute nightmare in five years.
P.S. I hate living in Nashville. It's terrible. Get off my lawn.
Best day drinking spot imo...Edleys in East Nashville is great too
So many MLB GMs in town these days
Josh Hamilton vs the Sounds on Sunday
Americana Music Festival has some nice names coming to town in September
my friend's bachelor party was at Talladega last weekend. He is pretty crazy like most out of state students who go to Bama tend to be. The below scene involving him apparently made it to Comedy Central
