My 360 got the RROD and now my games freeze every time I play any games. The latter started happening after I updated my xbox (used the towel trick). Microsoft says that this problem is not because of the firmware. Should I try to battle it or just go ahead and kop this? http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/consoles/xbox-360-pro-20gb-microsoft-refurbished/75847 Note: I also need another controller.
Lot of places offering the 4gb slim console for $200 and throwing in a gift card. Look around. Best buy might have something. Amazon probably. Slickdeals should have something like that pop up soon. Definitely upgrade though. Sounds like 360 has a longer lifecycle than ps3 for the time being since we haven't heard about the new console's development yet.
I don't really need the slim. I'm fine with the basic I do think. Is the deal I posted as good as I am going to get?
In terms of refurbs, probably. Can't know for sure what you're getting if you buy off Craigslist or Ebay. But paying the $200 (essentially $150 since most places give you $50 gift cards like I mentioned) is more than worth it for something that has significantly less problems. I keep mine running all the time and it's been wonderful. Very quiet and I haven't heard of a RRoD problem from anyone yet.
