Good deal. Wasn’t trying to be a contrarian or anything. One of my local stores has threatened that if any group of people add stickers to their picks after the fact, they would be banned from all future picks. It seemed extreme to me, but wanted to try to make sure we didn’t sour our relationship with a store willing to do this for us. Appreciate you and this store for doing this for us.
I agree... most stickers are on the back/side and aren’t a big deal. But it’s result of some people taking advantage of adding stickers. See the EH Taylor “Flood Survivor” Pick that replaced the entire front label. Glad we are still going to do one, though.
Damn, is the bottle worth the hype? To be clear, I wasn’t hating on the bottle or the group that put it out. Just giving some context to why some of the larger brands are banning private stickers. Also, apparently some private stickers have been raunchy/non-pc and the distilleries don’t think they fit with their “brand” so they are unhappy.
Four roses is the only to do it to my knowledge. I think the raunchy ones were the issue. As for the flood survivor, haven’t cracked it but most SiB EHT are pretty tasty. Buzz have you opened yours?
I’ve heard someone mention that a couple of the big ones are going to do it, but 4R is the only name I’ve heard. Hopefully you’re right and it’s limited to 4R

A club I'm in around here that does 40+ picks a year just announced they have a PS-58-5 coming very soon. The group has outgrown themselves and have a lottery system for all picks now, though. Going to have to figure out how to get selected for this one.
They are now up to about 3000 members. This will be the 2nd Four Roses pick they have had this year. The head guys went to Buffalo Trace earlier this year and picked an OWA, EH Taylor and something else they haven’t announced yet. Just had a really good Makers wood finished that I picked up last week. Every bottle is marked up $5 and that goes to charity, so that aspect of the club probably helps. Everything is sold through a store that is one of the largest in Nashville and probably does another 40-50 picks a year. They just keep a list of the people allowed to pick up those certain bottles. Probably also helps to be partnered with a store that does a huge amount of sales.
Has it been discussed that Four Roses is attempting to prohibit stickers on its picks now? The Bourbon Pursuit pod was discussing it this week since the host received a contractual addendum when he did his pick.
We’ve always had overwhelming demand, NYGator has stepped up and done the hard work for the group. Not sure we can replicate that multiple times over...
Spot on. It’s almost like this hasn’t been discussed a dozen times before. Money is not the issue. Sourcing the booze will always be the struggle.
Nah dude- individually packaging, shipping and managing 100 or so $125 transactions is the real issue
That’s why partnering with stores and doing six bottle minimum purchases is key. I would never want to do single bottle sales. Not worth it.
And some stores won’t ship either (I know you’re aware).... lots of things need to align here and it’s still a huge effort even if they do.
I like the Basil Hayden rum cask finished rye. It’s definitely different, and probably unique enough that he wouldn’t buy it for himself
Otherwise buy him Russel Reserve 10 for $35. Everyone loves RR10. Buy him a red label since barre for $65 if you really want to spend more.
