    this is my exact story.

one of my sons turns 3 on Valentine's Day. he is diagnosed with cp and still has lung issues. Will likely be somewhere on the autism spectrum and weighs 24 lbs.

But If you saw him you would think he is a normal little boy.

My other son passed away after 4 months of fighting.

Before my wife's water broke, I had no experience with birth complications. I'm not naive, but i just figured premature babies were babies born a couple weeks early and they catch up quickly.

My world was rocked 3 years ago. feel somewhat normal today, esp now that we have a healthy and normal 1 year old girl as well.

Wasnt an option for us. Had him in the room with us. I kept jumping up every 45 mins in the middle of the night seeing if he was still breathing.

So mine is just under 4 months. He has never slept through the night, but we got to like 2 times he would wake up, which wasn't too bad.

Not anymore. He is crying almost every hour. Its miserable.

Also he has started rolling over, so no more swaddle, which isn't helping matters. We got him one of those weighted sleep suits which helps a little, but not that much.

6 weeks yesterday. She wakes up like clockwork at 2:30 and 5:30 which is fine its the other random nights she doesn't make it to either of those benchmarks that is pretty terrible. Especially recently she's been stopped up as hell and we just keep sucking the snot/boogers out so she can breathe. Once they're out she sleeps/wakes up/repeat. This is fine.

    appreciate it.

    one funny note about him.

he turns 3 in february (being born 4 months early, he is really 2 1/2). he is completely and totally obsessed with cars. it's one of the reasons why his therapists say he will likely be on the autism spectrum. this isn't your normal toy obsession. this is very rainman-ish.

he can tell you the make of literally every car on the road. last year we got him one of those car classified magazines that you get for free at the grocery store. it is a magazine with hundreds of tiny car classifieds with the pictures of the cars next to them. he studied that thing for hours and hours, of course with my help telling him which cars were what make.

and months later, he knows every car on the road. driving around the city is quite entertaining because it is nonstop, "THAT IS A MASERATI!" or "THAT IS A CHRYSLER!"

it's quite the party trick. he went to the dr a few months ago and in the parking garage the attendant was driving around the golf cart and asked my wife and him if they wanted a ride into the hospital. they obliged, and my son began rattling off the cars he saw. the attendant stopped the golf cart, and was just thoroughly confused as to what he was hearing. thinking it was a fluke, he asked to drive him around some more and test him. he got all of those right too. it is some seriously entertaining stuff.

My son is 11 months and has slept through the night just once. It's been 3-4 hour stretches from 7pm-7am every night.

We've tried everything. Forgot what it was like to sleep more than four hours at a time.

My buddy has 4 kids, two girls age 9 and 6 that are constantly fighting with each other, or fighting with their 4 year old brother. They have a 1 year old boy too.
They are getting ready to put an addition on to their house so the girls can have separate rooms, he can have his own office, and the kids will have a separate play room from the main house, plus another bathroom.

I am irrationally happy for him, his life is about to get so much better. 1700 LF and 2 bathrooms is just not enough for 6 people. he will have about 2300 SF under roof once he's done

I recall reading your story and crying at the thought of it while we were pregnant as well. It was at roughly the same time as my wife's co-worker's sister. My son is two and a few months now. I think one of your son's--name of a city--shared the same name as their son that died as well as what we named our son. It seemed like a bad omen to keep it on the list but once he was born it appeared on the list again and it was our favorite.

I'm really happy to hear things are going well for you.

My wife is a social worker who works with adults with mental disabilities so she sees the struggle families go through, especially when the parents get older and can't support their "kids" with the care they need. I am adopted with zero medical history background.

Thus with those two things, I was scared during the pregnancy just thinking about the worst. Everything is fine and he's a healthy kid but can't imagine gets the news from the doctor during pregnancy that they dedicated any of the numerous issues that can arise.

Back to more cheerful subjects - anyone deal with hard poop? My son after switching off formula and eating mostly solids, cries because his poop is too big/hard. Its funny and sad as I hold his hand as he tries to push one out in his diaper.

My kid gets a teaspoon of Miralax most days because of constipation/hard poop. While it's supposedly safe and I have concerns about relying on a supplement, I just couldn't watch him cry and and scream and struggle to poop anymore.

My son has bad gas and farts constantly even when we give him Mylicon 5-6 times a day. It helped wonders because his first three weeks his face got so red and he was constipated.

Part of he reason I think he wont stay down more than 3-4 hours is he wakes himself up with a fart and cant self sooth since he will never take a pacifer or wont suck his thumb.

My daughter, who just turned 2, HATES sleep. And it sucks. She doesn't take naps during the day and if you try to get her to go to sleep around ~8, she will fight it until 11ish. She usually gets up between 8-9am too.

It's weird. We have tried to get her up at 7 and try and nap midday but absolutely refuses :idk:

Our first kid just turned 6 months old. He sleeps on his belly now and is a drool machine. Almost like clockwork every night he'll wake up crying in a pool of drool. We try to move him out of the way but eventually the same thing happens and we end up changing the crib sheet, and it takes him forever to fall back asleep. Hoping he is just teething and the drool will subside soon.

Anybody used or have recommendations on some sort of alarm for when my daughter gets out of bed? We moved her to a big girl bed, and she tends to wake up around 6:30 every morning give or take a half hour or so.

I wake up in the morning and go down to the basement to workout around 5-5:45. That means she's two floors above me while I'm working out, so I wouldn't hear her or know she was up unless I happened to look at the video monitor.

    Thx

    Alright story time...

I've been showing my 5 year old daughter classic movies for the last 6 months and not too far back we watched Goonies. The scene where they broke the penis off the statue stood out and she randomly kept saying "they broke his vagina off". My wife and I kept telling her boys don't have vaginas, so naturally she asked what it was called. My wife is ok with her learning the word vagina but not penis so we just don't answer the question apparently.

Fast forward to tonight, we are eating hot dogs and my wife tells my daughter her "weiner is sticking out" of her bun. Of course my wife giggles like a child when she says weiner. My daughter says "why are you laughing at weiner?" which makes my wife laugh even more. 5 minutes later my daughter blurts out "I figured it out! Boys have Weeeeeeeeeeeeiners!!!!". And then she starts running over to me shouting weiner trying to grab my crotch. She has been saying weiner non-stop for the last hour.

I'm pretty sure her school is going to be giving us a call tomorrow. That or child protective services.

Same situation. Daughter is the oldest and they're 23 months apart. While it's definitely an adjustment having 2, you figure out the routine after a week or two. Once you do, it's not so bad. You remember everything you went through with your oldest since it was so recent and you know what works and doesn't, so you're less stressed out. Not sure if it was that or that our 2nd was a boy that made him so much easier (or a combo), but our son seemed so much easier than our daughter in their first year.

I mean I get it from his perspective, less the clean up. I am sure there will be a regression(s), especially with pooping, but so far he has picked up fast! That said, early in the day yesterday I was carrying him and he pissed all over me. He looked at me and said, " I sorry Daddy." Not even mad.

My 2.5 year old has valiantly fought all efforts to potty train him to date. Whenever he goes quite, or hides under the table, I know what he's doing. At least now he tells us that he's pooped...after the fact.

No amount of bribes have worked to get him to take a swing at using the toilet. He'll gladly stare me down and take a crap in his pants, then have the audacity to tell me he did it and ask for his reward. I fear he is going to be 13 and wearing adult depends if this keeps up...

What a crazy night. We put my 3yo daughter to bed at about 8:30. My wife went down the basement to switch some laundry. I came by the kitchen where the basement stairs are and she is hunched over in pain. At this point I'm kind of freaking out because I'm not real sure what's going on. My wife tells me she is having contractions so I start the clock in my head. About 5 minutes later she has another one. At this point I'm thinking it could go down fast, so I call my MIL and she comes over to pick up my daughter. In the meantime, we had called labor and delivery who told us to wait about an hour, then call back to make sure it was actual labor. We give it another couple of sets of contractions and my wife says "fuck this, we are going in now". I call them back and tell them to get ready. By the time we get in the car, her contractions are 2 minutes apart.

We get to the hospital and my wife was already 8 cm dialted had no time to get any drugs so she had to do all natural. That looked horrible but the end result was a beautiful baby boy. At 11:13 pm on January 8th, Noah James Wicked was born. 8lbs 14oz and 20 1/4 inches long.

We were seriously at the hosptial for an hr and 15 min from when we pulled into the parking garage, until the baby was born. Crazy how fast it can happen.

Both momma and baby are doing great.
