Baseball =/= hockey but what I will say is baseball is BY FAR the biggest gap of excitement between regular season and playoffs. I don’t think it’s just because of the 162 games. The stakes on a per pitch basis is just another sport entirely from the season. But still don’t think it reaches hockey.
Yeah the rangers winning the ws last year makes me a lot less upset with my other teams choking (longhorns and potentially the stars)
I don’t think anything hits like a walk off in the playoffs. Especially a walk off home run. I love both equally
Highs of baseball playoffs are high as fuck for sure. Only thing better is a World Cup knockout winning goal.
While yes walk off hits and HRs are great (marlins fan who remembers a walk off WS win) the one thing is only the home team can do it for a particular game. Whereas in hockey overtime Irlo late 3rd it can terrify you that it can end for either team at any time. It’s just a different dynamic.
I love both equally. Hockey playoffs tends to leave me much more anxious or angry than mlb though which can be really annoying to sit through
I love Marchment. Thanks for that one Panthers. The only guy that will actually check someone or hit anyone
Deboer’s message was clearly try to beat the shit out of them. This is the most physical I’ve seen the stars
Stankoven would be an absolutely elite name for a goalie. On the flip side, watched this dude play a WHL game, and https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/248069/griffen-outhouse
I wish absolutely nothing but the worst for Vegas. Franchise that was gifted elite players by dumb fucking gms and then constantly circumvent the cap. Mickey Mouse bullshit
Tavares has made 11 mil / year for 6 years to have 12 playoff goals and 11 playoff assists in those 6 years. Averaging less than 4 playoff points per year in Toronto. He's also a -9 in 34 playoff games with the leafs
The funny part about this, when I was ranting last night. This was like 45 seconds before Marchand tripped Bertuzzi leading to the 2nd goal. 2 very obvious penalties like that not called is wild
Also notice how McAvoy knows he fucks up and looks at the ref right away to see if the penalty was called
I know it's Sheldon Keefe who never stops whining, but he's also not wrong here. Nobody gets away with more than Brad Marchand.
oh for sure. But teams have been complaining about Marchand's bull shit for years and he still keeps getting away with it. He lives by the "they won't call it every time" mantra. He's the perfect reason why the NHL needs to add a third offical who can fix mistakes from upstairs.
They won’t call it every time, and when they do, then they’ll call something ticky tack on the other team 3 minutes later.
The game management piece is such an issue. The “they won’t call it every time” thing is something players intimately understand and they use it to take absolute malicious cheap shots and get away with it. And then when there’s a huge rebuttal, people wonder why the game got out of control. While it wasn’t hugely malicious, TJ Oshie absolutely groping Artemi Panarin on a delayed Caps penalty was a good example. He knew the refs wouldn’t call a second Caps penalty and give the Rangers a 5on3 2 min advantage, so he attacked Panarin for no reason. Of course Panarin is going to want to get retribution on that later on, which he did with a huge borderline hit. If the refs actually policed the game instead of managed it, the escalation wouldn’t have gotten to the point of a potential huge injury causing hit.
Game 2 lightning Panthers I gave up trying to say what a penalty was on both sides. I think the only things called in period 2 or 3 were automatics like a 4 minute high stick and then a slash resulting in a dropped stick.
