Canucks are in a weird spot. Clearly there’s some great young talent. Goalies are over performing and they’ve still got a bottom 6 of shit veterans. They should bring Baertschi and Goldobin (destroying the AHL early on) back and let it ride. Absolutely do not try and pull off some trades at the deadline in order to sneak into the postseason this year (if they’re even sitting close at that point; tough to say that they will be).
I wouldn’t call him a disappointment. But his development has flatlined. Right now he’s a #7 D-man at best with almost no offensive game.
This is a bit of re-writing history. At the time, everyone was raving that Zadina fell to the Wings and how lucky they were.
Eh, I'll give the Canucks credit though, when Zadina fell (and before Detroit picked) they had already decided they were going Hughes regardless.
they absolutely get credit. I'm just saying that it's really hard to fault the Wings for taking Zadina. It's not like they pulled a Panthers and drafted a guy many had projected to be a 3rd liner at best instead of pretty much anyone else.
The amount of gears Ottawa took for passing on Zadina was nuts. Nobody has a crystal ball so you rarely know how these kids will develop but Tkachuk has worked out well so far. Sens were incredibly high on Hughes and if I remember correctly would have taken him had BT been picked by Montreal.
Jarry was out of his goddamn mind. I’m excited for the Pens to finally get healthy because they’ve been treading water with 3 AHLers on their 4th line for the last couple of weeks.
They need to get over the failed fox trax experiment of 1997 and microchip the puck. It’s an absolute joke that they don’t know exactly where the puck is at all times.
The ball is easier to track because its not obscured by the players. Its the same reason that technology works in tennis. 9 times out of 10 goals aren't called because the puck is obscured by the goalie or by a player in the crease.
Soccer uses cameras because the ball is almost never blocked by people. Hockey needs to microchip the puck, goal line, and blue line. It’s not that difficult.
Not all the created systems use cameras. Some use sensors. I didn’t mean specifically the hawk eye system but rather use the technology at hand to determine whether it’s a goal or not.
Tarasenko left the game last night on a pretty innocuous play. Reinjured the shoulder he had surgery on in the off season. he’s out for a week, so that’s fun.
