Their power play woes pre-date Barry Trotz by several years too. I thought for sure that when he was hired things would change there, but they're running the same tired tactics of cycle, cycle, pass, shoot the puck at Anders Lee's head and pray it bounces in. They hardly ever close down on the net. It seems like they expect Barzal to make zone entry in the middle of the ice on 2 defenders and usually a winger every time while the wingers are static, and then when Barzal inevitably turns it over there's no help and its an easy clear everytime. It was pretty much consensus that this would be an uphill battle for New York, but they've certainly not done themselves any favors either.
What a fucking win! Isles get the early lead, Killorn and Point go out, have to kill a 5 minute major and a 5 on 3 later on, and find a way to overcome all that for a W. Can’t recall this group overcoming more adversity in a single game like that. The Cooper reaction and from the players as well showed how gutsy of a win it was. If Points injury is serious that’s a big blow, but this team is on a mission. Unreal.
i think they win tomorrow. I think tonight took a lot out of Tampa and the islanders are facing a must win
What makes you think no Point moving forward? I thought he put in a couple shifts after whatever hit happened
that backhand pass by Gourde to Kucherov to start the final sequence was fantastic, all three of those passes were.
So I missed the first goal yesterday, fucking nhl. That was not a goal if you are going to call it a goal when there is clear interference but you justify it because the d pushed the guy interfering into his own goalie, it should also apply when an opposite player pushes the d and makes him interfere with his goalie. No? best example was that islanders goal against philly not too long ago when barzal just stood there. But that goal was the other way around, clutterbuck pushed bogosian right into vasy. You can’t have it both ways....unless I am missing something
Nick ritchies hit that didn’t get a game misconduct or suspension was far worse. I’m cool with both being a suspension but they need to be consistent. That’s asking far too much of the NHL but still. with killorn and almost certainly no point and with stamkos still out, I think the lightning go back to 12/6. Probably going to be at least 3 guys who haven’t played at all or since the round robin.
Yikes. Some of these numbers. Sources say the Sabres are considering an internal salary cap in the low $70 million range; the Arizona Coyotes, who recently failed to make on-time signing bonus payments to a number of players, may be operating just south of $70 million under their next GM; the Pittsburgh Penguins are reportedly planning to budget in the low-to-mid $70 million range on an $81.5 million limit. Around the league, from Florida to Vancouver, GMs are in discussion with ownership seeking spending latitude. There will be opportunities to acquire talented players from teams who can no longer afford them – either on an internal budget or with a frozen salary cap.
Got the ESPN goal alert on my phone before the OT period even started on my TV. Great work YouTube TV
