Going to be lots of options. Never understood the gonna be 4 year rebuild. NCAA Basketball is a Transaction sport right now.
Four's extreme. But it should take a couple. What is it now, four returning scholarship players? That's a lot of new bodies coming from different systems to mold into a team in one season. They can be better in one year on talent alone. But I'd offer Shrews a little grace on timing because the level of needed rebuild is extreme.
And just to clarify my stance - I've known the team has had one arm tied behind its back ever since I started rooting for ND so NIL, admin positions, etc. don't really get me 80% of my negative nature has come from the OC search and result. I won't go over the wounds - everyone knows why that was botched. But we settled for promoting Marcus' friend who failed in his one stint at OC and frankly any of us could have coached Mayer this year and he'd be an all american (if anything I was unimpressed with him as a TE coach because Evans kind of did nothing but sneak other than the Bowl game and Staes looked like he regressed a bit - can't knock him for Raridon's injury). Its just hard for me to be all-in on the team/program right now when our OC would have to completely go against his career to date to be a massive success and having strong progressive offenses are essentially a pre-requisite to succeeding in college football right now (only Michigan among the top 10-15 teams runs an offense Parker/Freeman want to run). I can't wait to be proven wrong, but its a head scratcher. So I'm not existentially negative on the program, its just pretty obvious the OC position and offense won't be optimized, which is sad (if you don't agree with that statement, you're essentially relying on something that hasn't been proven to be possible yet).
I think D3 bought a % of Buchner's NIL earnings or something because he keeps pushing the "Buchner could start" theory Yes, he does have 0% chance to be opening day QB barring injury lol
To be clear, Ludwig's success the last two seasons went completely against the test of his career, if you want to use that reasoning to justify negativity. There's a reason other fans were laughing at the thought of hiring him. I will wait to judge the offense until we've seen it.
Nah. Not saying elite 8 but a lot of teams are building this way. Heck Pitt had 8 new players that transfered in this year. Went from terrible to tournament. I don't expect a tourney team bur it's possible. ACC is down
idk when i posted this but if i wanted him and he already committed (to anyone) he ain't coming to ND
It's definitely different in this era. If nothing else, just beat JJ Starling at Syracuse and be an absolute pest to the rest of the ACC next year.
