Agree but we picked a guy who had never been a hc before. He gets 5 years as long as recruiting is going ok. Freeman did a better job this year than last and hope he keeps improving.
It seems pretty clear that they are not happy with Angeli. I think its more of a question of can they get someone better to sign.
They can and will. The collectives are quiet but they are going to make sure we have a good starting qb.
as insane as this is about to sound Freeman is worlds better compared to that Okie St game where he looked completely lost on the sideline he seemed completely locked in today, I still am optimistic that a 38 yr old can improve
I hear you. I’m good with Freeman - his learning curve and training wheels are off and now all the lessons are on the table. Assuming he gets a new OC, we can be dangerous next year. Opening in Kyle Field is a huge opportunity
This might be a #PostGameDrinks comment, but I would have joined the Big 10 West by now A schedule next year of USC, Wisconsin, Michigan, UCLA, a couple mid-tier B1G teams, and Stanford and Navy instead of getting railed by ACC officials against like Georgia Tech? A chance at a conference title and a great shot at the playoffs vs the inherent bias that will be against us? I don’t know why being independent is worth it anymore
Dennis Dodd is reporting it’s “at least $60M per year”, with others speculating close to $50M. There’s no defending this contract for the sake of independence. This is Jack just trying to save his own legacy and leaving the next guy with a huge hole to figure out.
Getting dominated by NBC Universal and Under Armour in a 12 month period is almost funny How did Jack just not step down last year?
Perhaps the best part is he didn’t even need to sign the NBC deal this year. Could’ve easily punted to next year and let the new AD handle it. Alas, it’s Jack’s world and we’re just stuck with it.
Hey guys I don’t know if you hear but the NBC deal includes an annual hard knocks style documentary series. So suck on those nuts
Just saw the greathouse td, finally. These plays were there all year but what is up with him leaving his mouthpiece hanging like that? If you are not going to use it just do not have one on your helmet.
NBC having an avenue to pay our players when they are good is more important to me than how big the check is to the school.
Does anyone know who the Mexican reporter is that is at the Notre Dame press conferences? I know Mexico is a majority Catholic nation but still am surprised some outlet there has an ND beat reporter
Again I'm not sure what you guys wanted here but $60 Million plus the ACC money is a pretty incredible deal to me? ND's athletic department isn't in crippling debt (no debt?) like 95% of the rest of the sport, the school just basically 2.5X its revenue in the short term, and is now staying independent while the rest of the sport collapses into some sort of shitty NFL model. The contract only running until 2029 means ND will be the only entity up for media rights renegotiation this decade, that's also a positive. Its entirely possible that this being short term might be the most valuable part here Jack absolutely said let the next AD and President decide the future but he put them in a position that the short term is secured
NBC paid for 5 more years of ND football at say $60 Million a year- so for $300 Million they got the rights to broadcast these home games starting in 2025: Texas A&M USC X3 Stanford X2 Purdue X2 Navy X3 NC State Syracuse x2 Wisconsin Virginia Mich State Miami FL x2 GT x2 Vtach Arkansas BC Clemson Alabama Wake SMU Cal +12-14 directional & fcs schools Not sure that's worth $300 million honestly
If it’s “at least 60m per year” that’s a huge win, if it’s between 50-60 that’s good. They're paying around 10m a game for 5 years, I'm good with that, the 5 year term is also very friendly in a quickly changing environment.
It's an inventory calculation, those teams get that because of the inventory the B1G gives, we offer 6 games a year 2-3 of which are big draws, and if we hit a dip even those lose luster.
it was also an all sports contract not just football only IU vs UCLA in basketball on a Saturday in February absolutely has value to the networks
Seems unlikely but Dino Babers is getting canned, potential OC? Yes, I know, Parker isn't getting fired.
Clawson was pretty over the top complimentary of our team and talent level. So while that win was enjoyable, it only furthers the two points… - How did we lose 3 games with this roster? -Why is our offensive gameplan markedly different against inferior opponents than it is against even somewhat equal opponents? We’re allowed to run RPOs and playaction against teams with winning records.
Pros… - Established offensive mind with HC experience who fits the mold of wanting to surround Freeman with experienced coordinators - Heavy emphasis on explosiveness through RPOs Cons… - Do we want to run a variant of the Art Briles offense? I’m not sure He’s far better than what we have.
I want Parker gone but Utah has scored 20 or less in 4 games this year and held to 7 points twice. You’d all be out for blood already.
Rico quote “On his inspiration this season: “Inspiration for me, I would say the people that I lost and people that are in prison or jail that I got, my loved ones and where I came from. I ain't grew up sweet at all, so that's my drive, just keep going for the people that can't and my family and mom, little sister.”
He's exceeded my wildest expectations this year. I was a little worried about the cultural fit, but to see he's already one of 5 guys Freeman sends to the podium on senior day as a freshman is pretty wild how well he's done this year
Ike Taylor (the dad of Ivan) changed his profile pic on Twitter to one of him and his son at ND yesterday
this one is over, Fong hit him with the ball yesterday during the game https://247sports.com/PlayerInstitution/ivan-taylor-at-west-orange-279531/CurrentExpertPredictions/ Hell of a get, kids gonna get bags thrown at him
Hard no on Ludwig. He's floundered this year with a backup QB. Tommy Rees was at least serviceable with Pyne and we pilloried him.
