God damnt. I got the email as well and thought it was spam. Saw your post just now, found the email, tried to get tickets and they’re out
Going to miss the Nashville shows after how hot they were last year. Happy to be doing Asheville and Atlanta though, with floors for the latter. Oh yeah, and NOLA NYE.
Forgot about NOLA, which is where I used to live and my bday is the 30th… With Phish at the Sphere being announced, I need to sit down and have a heart to heart with myself and decide if I’m going to skip NOLA NYE or skip Nashville. Wife and I have been trying to plan an out of country vacation for Feb or March, and when she made a comment about how the cost of phish in LV was going to supplant the vacation, I responded by saying nahhhhh we can still go on the vacation too. But I forgot about Billy. Don’t think I can swing 3 musical vacations plus a real weeklong vacation that close together. First world problems I know.
With Ryman being sold out and places to stay in NOLA being free with friends, think I gotta go with NOLA for the bday and NYE combo…
Yeah, I think that’s a no brainer. You get an extra set on NYE to sweeten the pot as well. And NOLA blows Nashville out of the water as far as awesome cities to visit goes.
Billy put a 12-8-23 image on his socials with a Reprise Records logo. Announcement or album drop on Friday?
Might as well do one last speedball in Nashville. You can leave the Ryman and head straight to Cumberland Heights. Let them pump you full of Valium and take a nap. I hear the food is good.
People guessing it's a live album bc he posted a 4 song sandwich with the date. Would rather it be a studio bc with Nugs, live albums don't carry the same weight they used to. I love Nugs so much. Both kinds.
Still my jam. I have the video lesson, but haven’t done shit on learning it. It’s a beast. I can jam a bit on Southern Flavor now though and it’s in the same key (Em). Should get back on that.
I was never huge on WSP but I really enjoy Billy doing All Time Low. Never get tired of that, Ride Me High, and End of The Rainbow for covers. If you haven’t checked out Frank Wakefield’s End of The Rainbow or him in general, highly recommend. Beast mandolin player
Missed this announcement Doesn’t seem like there will be a stream though. Hopefully a recording or some post show vids.
This was such an awesome moment. Home of the Red Fox went into Auld Lang Syne 3000. Night 1: The lights were low key old timey feel and they played a lot of old tunes. Night 2: They opened it up on the jamming and added more color. Until this point the side screens were mostly like curtains with some lighting effects on them. Night 3: They added the disco ball and started putting some simple stuff on the side screens. At midnight the whole stage setup came alive and they started using the side screens with full video the rest of the night.
New Billy tunes so far? Be Your Man In The Clear Richard Petty Escanaba Like In The Clear and Richard Petty but they were pretty raw. Escanaba is incredible. Straight Newgrass tune. This could fit right on a Tony Rice Unit album, or a Grisman project.
Threw this on for some background jams this Friday. 04/25/2018 Spoiler ain't shit getting done right now
By chance she was the last and first shows we saw going in/out of the pandemic shutdowns. Her banjo player Kyle has his own band touring now and is in Asheville for an after party show for Billy’s 1st night. Seriously considering grabbing tickets. He’s been real busy lately. Used to tear it up in the Jeff Austin Band and kills it for Molly. Kyle Tuttle Band, Shadowgrass, East Nash Grass, and Daniel Donato all have Billy after show parties. Busy weekend there Love when Billy does stuff with this generation of bluegrass. Trischka is doing an Earl Scruggs tribute here this weekend.
Lots of vids from the NY show on YT, and the whole show is on archive.org Billy Strings • 2024-02-01 (02:28:42) • David Geffen Theater, New York, NY https://relisten.net/billy-strings/2024/02/01?source=1211892 Shit is sick
Y'all as ready for these shows as I am? The three city winter tour couldn't have hit us any harder city wise. Just give me a So Many Miles in Nashville. Crown of Thorns Lumpy, Beanpole, and Dirt wouldn't hurt either
Yeah buddy. We got Daniel Donato in Raleigh before leaving for Asheville. Then after show tickets to Kyle Tuttle Band Fri and East Nash Grass Sat. Then there’s this going on during the day. Already took Tuesday off too to recover.
