Corner said he thought about stopping it in the 9th but knew for sure he was going to stop it in the 11th. Too late
11th was too late, but sadly no way to know if the 9th would've been early enough either. Tough spot all around.
I only caught it live from about the 5th round on. I went back and watched the 9th today. He took some really big shots and punishment, but was throwing back and landing. It's so tough.
Buddy is a vet trainer and one of the best in the business it’s hard to second guess that man. Obviously he’s going to regret not stopping after the 9th. I think the doctor at ringside and the referee in ring need to be more vigilant with these guys to protect them. Don’t leave it in the hands of the fighter or trainers. It’s a macho sport and these guys don’t like going out like that.
Not enough people are talking about the fact that dadashev's opponent had rehydrated to two weight classes above him come fight night There should be weigh ins at 30, 15 and 7 days as well as day of the fight. There should also be strict rehydration limits. Fighters going into fights while severely drained is just as dangerous as fighters ending up fighting someone who has rehydrated to a massively increased weight.
yep, in other sports you'll have day of mandatory weigh-in's, so the increase would be 8 hours at most at that point.
Apparently no one told Rivas/his promoter that Whyte had failed a drug test before the fight. Fucking unbelievable.
2 boxers died and the British boxing authority let Whyte fight with a positive steroid test and didn’t inform his opponent. This sport, man.
Saw on BBC that Whyte could be facing an eight year suspension for his second offense. If that comes to pass his career is basically over.
Two cards tonight. One with a fantastic fight, the other with a big name. First up: SHO, 9:00 pm ET, Gervonta Davis vs Ricardo Nunez, Yuriorkis Gamboa vs Rocky Martinez, Jezzrel Corrales vs Ladarius Miller. Davis-Nunez is a mandatory title fight at 130, a further waste of everyone’s time when it comes to Davis, but at least with the excuse that the sanctioning body was going to make him fight this guy sooner or later, so let’s just get it over with. Gamboa-Martinez is a meeting of well past-prime vets but could be fun, as those fights sometimes are. Corrales-Miller might actually lead to something for the winner.
And the card with the best fight of the night: DAZN, 9:00 pm ET, Maurice Hooker vs Jose Ramirez, Tevin Farmer vs Guillaume Frenois. The card has more, but this is the meat everyone will care about, two world title fights. Hooker-Ramirez is a terrific match, a unification at 140 between the guys widely considered to be Nos. 3 and 4 in a division that is strong and in-prime at the top. Farmer is making a mandatory defense in his ongoing battle with social medial rival Davis to see who can have the more forgettable 130-pound title reign. https://www.badlefthook.com/2019/7/...-picks-predictions-farmer-frenois-dazn-boxing
The undercard of the Hooker-Ramirez card is on DAZN now. Main card starts at 9. Just a fwiw if you’re wanting some boxing to watch.
He’s 0-2. 28 years old with 8 kids and now he’s decided to devote his life to boxing. This will end well
Ammo’s apparently coming back on the Loma card at the end of August. Obviously very well thought of to have a spot on that one already.
Expecting so many Wire references from Mauro tonight with the fight in Baltimore. Showtime broadcast is on the air.
Can someone please tag me when the DAZN main event starts? Going to start on Showtime hopefully this card ends before that fight starts
