I know its old news now... but its crazy how off Sagan has been for so long now. he's a shell of his former self.
Just got home from a week of vacation with no TV/phone/internet, and catching up on the race with no spoilers of what I missed. Watched Stages 8 and 9 so far today. The Jungels win and interview was just fantastic. A beautiful race through beautiful country. I really enjoyed Jungels's Liege win years ago, and it was great to see him win again. Will be binge watching the Tour all weekend catching up - life is good.
Spent some time on the Champs-Elysees today. Tomorrow will be nuts. Wished I’d planned better to be around tomorrow
Is this a cyclists thread? Looking for helmet recommendations. I just inherited an Aventon 500. I’m looking at 10 miles or less mostly suburban bike paths to start. I’d like something comfortable, good airflow at casual/low speeds, and a high safety rating. Under probably $150-200.
Strade Bianche this morning. Mens race live now. I decided to stop pirating and purchased GCN+... Love it so far this season. I'm done with the NBC guys. I much prefer the European coverage. GCN is here for any that are interested: https://plus.globalcyclingnetwork.com/
One of the big races coming up next weeked, the 1st monument Milan San Remo. I am hoping Arnaud De Lie can shock the world.
I’ve subscribed to GCN+ for 3 years. They do a great job. Also, if you ever ask for help with something they respond quickly and take care of the problem. This season I’ve watched the Men’s and Women’s Strade Bianche, and am now on the Tirreno Adriatico….which Roglic is making his personal bitch.
Just finished watching Strade Bianche. I swear the last 20 kms of that race is the kind of thing that makes me not want to watch cycling. Spoiler 6 person group regularly bringing the gap down around 10", and it's like each time as soon as they saw Pidcock they'd all just start fucking around again and letting it go out. I'll never understand it and I can't wait for cycling analytics or whatever to get to a point where everyone realizes how stupid it is to do. It makes no sense. Yeah if you work together you might bring someone else with you who's slacking off, is fresher at the finish, and beats you. But for fuck's sake, at least in that scenario you have a chance to win. But if you never bother actually catching the guy in front you definitely aren't going to fucking win. They could've put in 2 mins more of effort, caught Pidcock, and still done all that looking around. It happens time and time again and I'll just never understand it.
I agree that it’s baffling. IMO it is one of those characteristics that give road cycling races a unique element of suspense and it enhances my enjoyment of the events.
E3 on right now. 100km remaining. Gent-Wevelgem on Sunday Flanders next weekend and Paris-Roubaix the weekend after that.
