Man I’m bummed about not franchising Wilkins. He’s the one guy that may leave this offseason that I think is a true difference maker. Would have loved to have worked something out or franchised him. Great player
We couldn’t afforded that. They had to let him leave 84 mil guaranteed is wild. Good for Wilkins tho, happy for the guy. Generational money for him and his family
Yea, can't be mad at Grier for not paying it, but also good for Wilkins to go get that bag. Brandon Jones also got a bag. 7 mil AAV for a #3 Safety is wild.
They're getting killed for it but, outside of AVG, I don't see how you match any of those contracts. Grier should have had the Wilkins thing wrapped up months ago that being said but he's awful at his job so...
Van Ginkel too. $10mm AAV after really just one good year Very good backup but idk about how confident I am in him as an every game starter
He missed some games this year but he's been an iron man since we drafted him. Didn't miss a game his first three years
Wait til we bargain shop for talented but injury prone guys to fill the roster holes now. Ain't nothing on earth Grier likes more than talented but constantly hurt cheap guys.
Grier isn't the greatest ever, but to be fair all of the guys we are losing to huge FA contracts now are guys he drafted
Grier is fine, but his handling of the cap and our draft picks has screwed us at least in the short term. We knew this was probably coming when we made all those trades and signings but this is getting really ugly and I have no idea what this team will look like in week 1 at this point I don't want him fired but I wouldn't be shocked if he's shown the door if we fall off a cliff this year due to a lack of any kind of depth. He'll be fired before Mcdaniel that much I'm sure of and I'd be perfectly ok with that too.
I’m pretty happy with Grier. The only guy I am upset about leaving is Wilkins. We should have locked him up and not him get out. But at least we will get some nice picks. Team has consistently improved under him and the draft results have been solid imo. Certainly some misses but solid.
My one issue with Grier is his handling of drafting linebackers, corners and Olineman for the most part hasn't been very good.
Idk about the price but kinda meh about it. Fills a need but he’s definitely lost a step over the past couple of years
1 year deal worth "up to" $9mm. So maybe in the 6-7 range? He's still good as a pass rusher, I really like it on that deal
Rotational player once Chubb/JP get back and helps in the early part of the season. Doesn’t count against the comp picks since he was released, and came in cheaper than AVG. solid move
all of this. You are counting on a vet saying, hey for 20-30 plays a game, I go balls to the wall and maybe make one last playoff run.
Was he a UFA or was he cut by the Commanders? Also, this cost 1.5 million more per year but a year less than Brandon Jones. LMAO
So are we drafting Worthy just to have the fastest WR corps ever? But seriously, this WR draft is pretty ridiculous
I personally would take AD Mitchell/Brian Thomas at 1:21 or Troy Franklin/Xavier Legette at 2:55. Need a taller receiver in the mix that can win in 11 personnel when Hill/Waddle aren't on the field.
the 3 YPC crew seems to be convinced a WR will be the pick. IMO it HAS to be someone with size who can catch passes in the redzone.
I’m sorry but not drafting a tackle in our situation with Armstead where we know he’s missing half the season and we’re going to need to eventually replace him seems insane to me. you can still get a 1st round grade wr in the second round
I don't disagree. I also would love to get a 1st next year from one of these teams trying to collect draft ammo to trade up.
I think you can go BPA in the 1st. Tackle, DT and WR are all loaded and huge positions of needs, so there are going to be quite a few prospects with 1st round grades that will be in range of their second round pick.
I guess with what we have allocated at WR I have to agree that spending a first or second on a WR3 with the holes we still have remaining would be silly
