3rd and a 7th from the Browns So we lose Landry, gain Robert Quinn Now have two 3rd round picks, and two 7th round picks As long as the 3rd rounder is this year I'll take it
They can’t keep kicking the can down the road by restructuring his deal every year. Either pay the price this year or cut him and move on. This team is already a joke so either way, who cares.
We'd have gotten a 3rd round comp next year if we just let Landry walk no franchise tag, so of course we tag him and trade him for a 4th. Granted the 4th is a high 4th this year which is I guess as good as a low 3rd next year. Jfc though. This fucking team.
I don't know if Gase is the guy or not, but he's not responsible for this fiasco I don't think. This is a perfect example of why you lock your young talent up before they are set to hit the open market. That's on tannenbaum.
Gase was definitely stated as wanting both the Ajayi and Landry out this year in the news. This is absolutely something he wanted to happen. Gase is the same guy who begged that sorry fucking sack of shit Cutler to come in as well. He just wanted to give his boy a payday. *waits for Gibbons to come in here and cape for him*
I tend to think Landry is overrated, but he's definitely a solid player to have. Disappointing to see a solid, passionate player leave for slightly more than nothing.
It seems like were just dumping talent with no actual plan to replace it. Ajayi, Suh, Landry... If we're going to do that we better be getting rid of that 100 million dollar QB who's overpaid as fuck as well. If you're going to clean house go all out. Draft yourself a QB and start over. Dump that extra money into the Defense and Oline you save from getting rid of Suh and Tanny. I can live with a rebuild, but if they keep Tanny then I truly don't understand wtf they're doing.
Wanting him out and Gase being the guy on the phone negotiating trades are two separate things what would you have rather us done, pay him the julio jones-type money he wanted?
Tannenbaum is a much bigger problem than Gase imo The only reason we are losing Landry are the Branch, Alonso, and to a tad lesser extent Stills huge overpays last year. I can handle overpaying a tad for a good player like Suh or Landry. I can’t handle overpaying for average or below average players like the 3 I named. That’s on the front office... not to mention Timmons who we luckily can get out of because he went nuts and went AWOL
I'm perfectly fine with us getting rid of our vets and going with a youth movement hell I'd prefer that than 8-8 and just be average
I’d rather give Landry “Julio money” for everything he does bring to the table, but hey, let’s take on a $12 contract for Robert Quinn who’s been hurt 2 straight years. $9m for a center who’s got a degenerative hip and declining play. $10m for branch, $9.6m for Alonso, $8.6m for Timmons, $6.6m for Julius Thomas. God forbid we give the few good players we draft a second contract.
I'd much much rather pay Landry then Tanny. Not even a second thought on that. We paid an average to below average NFL QB 100 million dollars but couldn't be bothered to pay a very productive top 10 in the league wideout........ K
Love to see the number of draft picks the last 7-10 years that have got second contracts with us. The fact is we had a 2nd rd pick that in 4 years averaged 100 receptions and 1000 yards a year and made 3 pro bowls, and we traded him for a 4th and 7th. Fuck justifying that kind of business
I’m as big of a Landry fan as there’s been on here but I’d say he’s top 15-20 but not top 10 But he wants to get paid top 3 money
Production wise, he is top 10. Even still, it’s his turn to be paid, and those contracts are always elevated. He’s a 25 year old that doesn’t show any reason he is going to regress any time soon. Should have paid him
Amongst all WRs he is fringe top ten. Amongst slot WRs, which everyone wants to make that differention when it comes time to pay him, he’s top 3. Even if you want to argue the production, I’m not hearing he wants too much money when we’ve wasted millions on plenty of bad contracts. By the sound of it we’re going to be super active in free agency again this year too
All the beat reporters have said multiple times Pouncey isn’t going anywhere. They’ve been pretty right on all the big personnel moves. I’d be very happy if they were wrong on this one
I havent seen anyone mention specific names going forward but they all seem to believe there will be big changes. While Pouncey no longer plays at the level he used to I don't believe hes ever been accused of being a problem with the "culture" unless we are talking about Bullygate

Yeah this doesn't refute anything I was saying. Sadly I agree with Armando here: Right now, the issue just addressed was whether to cut ties with Pouncey, addressing his $9 million cap figure. If the Dolphins had elected to cut Pouncey, they would save $7 million in cap space (with $2 million being added to the team’s dead money). That savings is not to be dismissed. It’s significant. But so is this: Cutting Mike Pouncey would mean the Dolphins have one less good player. Cutting Mike Pouncey would mean the Dolphins roster has one more hole. Cutting Mike Pouncey would mean the Dolphins’ offensive line gets weaker
