Has anyone ever been in steamboat during music fest? Just realized we planned our ski trip during the last days of music fest on accident, which will probably be cool.
My understanding is if you dont want to get second hand high, dont breath the air
Debut single from The Panhandlers: Josh Abbott, William Clark Green, John Baumann and Cleto Cordero. Album in March.
Hey guys, I saw some old posts with download links for Ryan Bingham's earlier albums, but noticed that they have since then been taken down. I've managed to find a download for Wishbone Saloon, but was wondering if anyone had one for Eagle Nest, Poor Boy's Amen, or Lost Bound Rails?
Camping in Pryor in June sounds awful though
Jason Eady did a live set on Instagram today. It's still up and you should definitely go check it out.
Bingham has been posting a song a day to his IG.
I don’t know of another artist I’d rather listen to with just an acoustic guitar.
bread & water yesterday was awesome
She misses Ragweed like I do.
Wade Bowen with Jack Ingram go on in 45 minutes. Check out Wade Bowen's Facebook for the live stream.
Randy Rogers is selling handwritten lyrics to his songs to help a local Austin charity. He only sells 10 at a time, so you gotta act quick. $400 a pop
Wife been on top of me to make sure we watch wades world every Friday night
I just wish they were on a better streaming service
Agree. YouTube would be so much better but most artists are sticking to FB and IG. It's frustrating
I enjoyed the new Reckless Kelly album. Nothing groundbreaking but nice to have some new tunes from them.
Anyone know if Evan Felker is alive?
Battling debilitating alcoholism during a pandemic probably ain't great.
We are looking at a house tomorrow that is along the turnpike here in Oklahoma, wife realized if we bought it, all 3 of our houses would be along the turnpike just moving East... I laughed and called us Turnpike Troubadors, she didn’t get it... and then I thought of this thread and I got sad
The daddiest of dad jokes.
Anyone know if Amanda Shires has a sister? We need some of that anti-Yoko Ono shit that she used on Isbell to save Evan.
I see this thread bumped and hope it's good news about TT but it never is
I listened to the couple songs off Kyle Nix’s upcoming album last night. It kinda sounds like TT but then doesn’t and it made me said.
Theyre both solid songs, I don't think Nix has a voice that makes me sit up and listen though. Its not unpleasant or un-listenable but I think in country more than other genres the top lead singers can convey so much emotion--pain, loneliness, love--through their voice and i don't really hear it with Nix so far. Felker was a master at not only telling a story but making you feel what he was feeling when he wrote the song, Nix is just kind of telling the story imo.
That being said I'm trying to not compare his stuff to Felker, who is arguably the premiere country songwriter and frontman of this decade.
Yea that's a good way to sum it up.
A step in the right direction...
Came across this dude randomly a month or so back and have started enjoying his music more and more ever since. Anyone know much about him? This song is his second most popular on Spotify and is pretty damn catchy.
Charley’s the man. Grew up poor, played on the streets in New Orleans, had a Subway band in New York, was basically a busker when he got noticed and became a musician. He’s a fascinating cat, and I love his sound. Seen him live a few times now, and he puts on a great show. Old school, lots of blues and jazz influence in his sound and his band.
Some say his stuff is too repetitive and similar, but I dig it.
His songwriting doesn't seem to be that great but the sound is so pure it's entrancing. Excited to keep diving into his catalogue and seeing where he goes in his career. The sky is the limit with such a distinct sound like his voice has.
Charley Crockett opened up for turnpike last time I saw them. He was awesome, haven't been able to fully get into his studio tracks but live he is amazing. I have a pretty all encompassing red dirt playlist on spotify and added a good bit of his songs to it even though it doesn't necessarily fit the genre. the playlist is called KOKE FM on Spotify(not trying to self promote but i think it's a pretty good playlist) if anyone wants to give it a follow. would also love any sort of input from the TMB community.
Been listening to your playlist while working and puttering around the house. Lots of stuff that has fallen out of my rotation and some new stuff that I’ve enjoyed too.
Thanks for sharing
That Kyle Nix record is out today. It's good. I don't know if it's because you get used to it or what, but his voice isn't a negative on the album as a whole like I felt it was listening to a couple singles.
So did you just randomly choose that name for Spotify or are you a regular listener to koke fm?
I agree, its a really good album. Lightning on the Mountain, Blue Eyes, Graves, Sweet Delta Rose, Good Girl Down the Road, and Lonesome for you will be in heavy rotation for me.
I really like Josephine too, though I think that's one in particular that I'd like to hear Evan do.
Every time this thread gets bumped I hope it's TT news. But it never is
It kind of is TT news right now.
It is, but not the good kind.
Felker coming back and TT reuniting is probably the only thing that has a small chance of redeeming shit tier year 2020.
Yeah that's pretty much what I based it on. Listened to koke fm and started adding songs to the playlist when I was trying to put something together.
I stumbled across this on YouTube this morning. Its quite old but I had never heard it before, surprisingly. Some Evan Felker to tide us over.
Was listening to Bird Hunters this morning, and today would be a great day to announce a reunion.
Cross posted because this thread needs to finally be bumped with fucking great news
Really want to read that book now.
I wonder if TT will be reuniting or if Evan has burned his bridges with those guys?
Man even if they decide to do very limited touring once covid19 is done, just having them making new music would make me so happy. They've put in their time with the touring imo.
They've been in a holding pattern in terms of other gigs, so I'd think/hope they'll stick with him.
