Favorite band. Science is still my favorite album. Loved early Incubus. first concert as well. 2002 in Cleveland. Opened for Phantom Planet. Got to meet the guys backstage after a show a few years ago.
Don’t even get me started on Phantom Planet. I recently started a The OC rewatch. The nostalgia is too strong.
what are you considering "early Incubus" because that's up for debate. are you saying Fungus Amongus/S.C.I.E.N.C.E. or Make Yourself/Morning View? e: both are good and I can listen to damn near anything they've put out. just a solid band.
fungus amongus/SCIENCE. SCIENCE and make yourself are my two fav albums of theirs. 1. make yourself 2. SCIENCE
I got the book Written on the Body because of the lead singer. Been a while since I read it need to read it again
I meant to say Phantom Planet opened for Incubus. It was funny at that time because I had never heard of them, but they played that California song that night. Then when The OC aired I was like, “holy shit, I saw those guys live!” Fun moment for 16 year old pre-social media me.
Saw them the first time at a park with like 40k people. Saw them at a theater recently and got to stand much closer
Saw them for the first time when I was 17 in Little Rock. They opened for 311. This was back when they all still had dreads. Saw them again at the same venue later right after Make Yourself came out. They opened for the Deftones.
I can't remember if it was Raycom or Fox Sports but one of them 100% ripped the New Skin riff for their basketball theme in the early 2000's and it was glorious
Deftones are one of my favorite bands. They're experiencing an incredibly weird revival right now and I can't quite place why They're selling out NBA/NHL arenas as headliners and I saw them in some pretty small venues in the middle of their prime ~2007-2015
Freshman year of college there was a live version of Are You In / My Girl that was one of my fav smoking songs.
It started before this tour. I did enjoy Mars Volta last year when they opened for Deftones and System of a Down at Golden Gate Park though.
I was at the Deftones one and they were my favorite band at the time. My buddy was dating a chick that was managed by the guy that booked the show so we got to do a little meet and greet with them post show. I would die now if shame of how awkward I must have been then at age 17 meeting Chino Moreno.
They’re coming here and tickets are outrageous. I’ve never seen Mars Volta and haven’t seen them in forever. One of my all time favorite bands
Yeah it ruled man. In my mind it was like raining a bit but it may have just been the disgusting mosh pit fog I’m thinking of in that humid ass south.
Anyone ever fuck around with Sugar Ray’s first album Lemonade and Brownies? Hilarious that it’s even the same band (and the album cover was quite )
thread inspired me to do the Science just hitting the run of Summer Romance -> Nebula -> Deep Inside -> Calgone
Aqueous Transmission was on our mushroom trip playlist back in college, and now it’s on my six-month old baby’s sleep song playlist. Can’t forget A Certain Shade of Green.
Certain Shade of Green might be my favorite song from that album. Also, Aqueous Transmission was our weed song in college lol. Such a soothing jam. Puts you right in the mood.
it's funny, Summer Romance is elite tier to me, but my fandom kicked off back in the day with a mix of random songs I downloaded from their first few albums and my brain still wants to hear the whales singing to start The Warmth after Favorite Things, almost a letdown whenever I hear SR in the context of the album
Obviously Science and Make Yourself are god-tier, but A Crow Left of The Murder is underrated IMO. Their live at Red Rocks DVD got a lot of play when my parents first got surround sound in our basement.
I don’t have much experience with Incubus but when I was in 4H I did use and incubator for brooding chickens, turkeys, pheasants, ducks, quail, and doves. My brother and I had quite the operation for for a couple ~10 year olds.
Last month I got an alert that Manchester Orchestra was coming to L.A. in October. Turns out they are opening for Incubus. Should be a good show.
That's the one. I remember begging my mom to let me go, so she had to ask all the young adults at her work if it was ok for me to go see them and they all gave approval so I got the green light. Then on the day of the show my dad picked me and my buddies up from school at lunch and we got in line right up towards the front. We were on the rail for Hoobastank and then I had my first crowd surfing experience and we ended up hanging out with a girl I knew and her older sister in like the middle of the floor crowd to watch Incubus. What a great memory. I can still hear the collective orgasm in the audience when Brandon Boyd took off his shirt.
What? Yes that’s approximately 17 or 18 year old me. Notice the cool class ring and sick fossil watch. Why do you ask?
Between the chin strap and the size, you were a super early developer. I don’t think I had a single facial hair at 17
