I'm looking to buy a magizine when I go to Walmart in a bit that will help me handicap games this upcoming year. How good is Phil Steele at this? How many of you use his magazine to help with your picks? Have you had success doing so?

Any specific stats I should really use from his magazine that will help? I had decent luck last year only using my gut and using stats from ESPN & my previous betting site but I feel like knowing even more trends will help me for the upcoming year.

Any help will receive a like. Thanks guys.

Let me know if there are any other sites/magazines I should look into either free or pay sites. I have bookmarked all the sites in the handicap resource thread and will make a Twitter specifically for following people who handicap if you have any recommendations for that as well it will be appreciated.

as far as "how to bet" like money management or betting strategies or "reading the lines" I have nothing for you...

There are people on other sites I look at that post opening to closing lines with public % and shit like that and use theories they've heard/read to post plays that fit systems like that. If you remind me each week I can find it and copy pasta.

only strategy I've heard from multiple places are: bet with head, not heart - obviously Bama wouldn't have hurt you in this perspective. don't put all your eggs in one basket. prob the best one I know of is - use % of bankroll for bets, not set units like "i'm gonna rank my plays 1-5* and each * will be $X.

If you start off small - other thread said deposit ~$40 - find a site with low minimums. and rank each play say 3-7% plays. whatever your total balance is at the beginning of that day when you wake up to place bets on the days games, make each bet "to win _____" based on X% of day's starting balance. If that makes sense... And in this strategy your "HUGE GAME OF THE MONTH" bet would probably be around 9%. I'm just not sure this is the way you want to go starting off with $4 unless you're really in it and committed for the long haul.... cause your average bet on a $40-50 balance would be ~$2.50

There is a trend you can find to justify any bet you wanna make. I don't trust trends. Stick with teams you know, or find people to follow that know enough about the teams/conferences they bet to make you confident enough to risk money on them.

If anyone is interested in "services" / "touts" that charge money for picks, I can link a thread on another site each week that has people splitting up costs of these picks packages and posting them for everyone to see. Just prob need a reminder each week.

that's my adderall thoughts for the night at least

So they pay for the services then post them so everyone can use them? That'd be a great thing to have a thread about on here just to use as a guideline to hot picks and whatnot throughout the year. If you don't mind posting them every week that'd be great.
