And the Bon Appetit series had to be pulled . I don’t think Emmanuel and Alex have good chemistry.
Speaking of BA - their YT channel kind of sucks now too. None of the new people have great rapport either. Just kind of meh. I guess that stuff comes with time
I haven’t looked at BA’s YT channel in a minute. Most of the chefs I follow have gone independent.
The Reply All NFT episode was good until that abortion of a song at the end that they insisted on playing in its entirety.
Brad is awesome and that’s it
Knowledge Fight ep 685 is fucking fantastic.
Knowledge Fight BTB crossover ep is enjoyable
The funniest thing I may have ever saw on the internet is a Brad Leone Meateater BA crossover on YT where they’re fishing. The eps are fine but at the end of part 2 Rinella is sitting in a boat wearing pants tailor made for showing off a dick. Every single YT comment on the show was about Steve’s dick and now it looks like that ep has been nuked from BA’s YT page.
Thanks to Reply All - TIL what a Pittsburgh Toilet is.
I enjoy the eps when these guys come on BTB. However an entire podcast devoted to Alex Jones seems a bit much
It is. Some episodes are super enjoyable though. All of the sandy hook deposition episodes have been great.
This exactly. I listen to it because I like the hosts more than anything. That and it’s really the only way besides TMB where I keep up on the RWNJ topic du jour because he’s pretty aligned with mainstream Republican thought these days.
The depo eps are fantastic though Truman you should listen. They’re so much fun
Very interesting episode
is this about the french guy whose followers wore cowboy hats while terrorizing Jewish shopkeepers in the late 19th century? Forgot his name but Robert Paxton talked about him a bit.
No. Italian poet who inspired Mussolini
Today's BTB has audio issues and is unlistenable, which is fine because the one Knowledge Fight guy laughing loudly every 5 seconds already makes the episodes unlistenable anyway
knowledge fight is great and there’s a lot to learn from alex jones and the other people in his sphere of influence. i wish alex jones was less impactful to modern america but unfortunately he’s a key part of the extremist discourse in right wing media
but like, i’m looking into getting a masters studying right wing extremism, so it’s right up my particular alley
Jordan is a saint you watch your tongue
listened to the first two episodes of Hot Money today.. interesting stuff.
If you haven't listened to the Piketon Massacre, I would recommend. 3 seasons about the same case.
Best title in podcast history
With Stav leaving Cumtown, it appears Nick and Adam are changing the name of the show to The Adam Friedland show. I stopped listening last year as they crossed a "don't give a shit" threshold that made the show much less enjoyable imo, but may give this a shot. I'm listening to solo Adam show he did with Ian Fidance from earlier this spring and it's not that bad and am enjoying it more than the last couple Cumtown episodes I listened to.
It’s very funny they didn’t even really cover Stav leaving other than some offhand comments and Stav just did a Notes app tweet
New fiasco season started today about the AIDS epidemic
I mean I knew Reagan was a piece of shit but for fiscal year 1982 the CDC's budget was slashed by 59%.
I liked Sammy better before every story revolved around him being "true cosa nostra" or whatever
I burned through Hot Money today, or at least as far as it's gone. It's OK. For a podcast about who rules porn, it's pretty tame and like half of it is finance stuff
I knew nothing about any of it, so I found it interesting. I’m a nerd for investigative journalism that follows shady financial folks. All in all, it’s nothing special, but not terrible either.
I knew about Mindgeek, or at least knew that some company existed that owned all that stuff. I like pretty much anything with a "behind the scenes" element. Like you said, it's aight. Worth a listen but not amazing
Stav leaving and cumtown shifting to the Adam friendland show is doing quite the troll
Lions Led by Donkeys on Custer's Last Stand is going to be great if ep 1 is any indication
New season of Blowback is about the Korean War but it costs $25
Came to post second ep dropped
Have been on a true crime bender for a while now....
Mr. Ballen has a podcast now, have been really enjoying it. I'd start with "Don't Get in the Water".
Highly recommend all 3 seasons of Piketon Massacre. I'd start with S01E01 and not look anything up until you're caught up. Warning, a couple episodes in seasons 2 and 3 can feel like filler, so feel free to skip those. This was all I listened to on a 5 hour drive a few weeks ago.
Think next on the docket is Murder Sheet, which is a deep dive into the Delphi Murders. Haven't listened yet, but I will.
When did they go behind a paywall?
They always have if you wanted the content up front or bonus content. Sounds like they’re using a different platform for season 3 tho.
I need a couple new pods since Bomani might be leaving and I dropped a few of the others I listened to. Been running through Knowledge Fight, but I find that more than an on hour on Jones makes me sad. Right now it’s
Some More News
Maybe something that isn’t as depressing.
I recently started listening to Split Zone Duo and have enjoyed it so much that its become the first podcast I've actually been willing to shell out $5 a month for their bonus Patreon content. Has definitely helped renew my interest in CFB, which had drastically waned since the start of the pandemic combined with UFs 10+ years of woes and the Bucs finally being good.
I'll have to give Knowledge Fight a try after seeing that it's apparently widely listened to in this thread.
KF is very good if you can withstand the psychic damage that listening to Jones does.
The 9/11 episodes were amazing.
The Archaeology Podcast feed - lot of different shows on the Archaeology network but most are PHD professors at one place or another. Big fan
Paleonerds - big fan of this too, especially when they have guests. Robert Depalma eps are must listen.
WellRed/Weekly Skews/Puttin on Airs - lots of overlap with hosts but all stem from The Liberal Redneck Manifesto. Basically all liberal millennial comedians from the south. Prob my most listened to group at this point
Pod Meets World - Boy Meets World rewatch pod by 3 of the main characters and I have really enjoyed it thus far. Only relevant If you’re ~30-40
We Might Be Drunk - Normand and Morril are a great combo.
Big fan of Paleonerds. Love how casual and laid back the hosts are.
Beeds07 Im a big Stuff You Should Know fan. 45-60 minute long episodes about the most random topics.
There was a recent ep where he spoke to an 11 year old parroting his garbage and it broke my spirit
Current events/politics that are depressing but in line w what you listed
5-4 - Supreme Court Podcast and why it sucks
Citations Needed - media criticism
Lions Led by Donkeys - It's pretty much BtB but Military History
The Deprogram - 3 leftists shooting the shit and covering different topics
I 2nd Paleo Nerds
Reply All (it just ended but it was a great podcast. Tons of great eps in the catalog)
Tides of History
Cardinals Off Day & Talking About Birds for the Cards
Split Zone Duo and Cover 3 for CFB
Trill Withers Show
Your Kickstarter Sucks
Jenkins and Jonez
all good for mindless listening
