Must not be too iconic if this 40-year-old living just outside of Jacksonville, Florida, has never heard of it!!!!
The two most audibly offensive accents in the English language come from northern Minnesota and the pine belt of Mississippi.
It’s bad, but the northern Minnesota accent gets even more nasally. I will confess that I’ve never been to northern Wisconsin.
I have not been to Wisconsin either, but I sat across a table from some people from there in Vegas to see Wayne Newton, and they were painful to listen to
Oklahoma/southern Missouri/Arkansas/corridor. People talk low and really accentuate and draw out the oooooooo in words like “know” it’s like they pronounce it kn-OWE-uh
Maybe I’m not getting your explanation but I spent many years in southwest Missouri and never heard anyone say it like that. My parents were born there and my grandparents lived most of their life there. Now if you’d said “warsh”, yeah they do that.
Worst accent in the world is my mother in law’s Mcrory AR abomination. Sounds like somebody trying to do a caricature of a southern accent but nope just the universe conspiring to drive me insane
I'll never forget that woman sat across from me and said something like "where are you from with that southern drawllllllll" I literally looked at her and said "you think I have an accent?"
Minnesota is slightly worse. Then into the Upper Peninsula of Michigan you start mixing in some Canadian and it’s also a doozy.
Middle Pa. "Mine" (posessive of something) is apparently a two syllable word now- "My-un" which I find unnerving.
