Taft Hartley and red scare tactics kneecapped union growth coming out of ww2 and the inability to make in roads in the southern states due to racism set the table for right to work law expansion and the Reagan regime rebuilding the economy to have a permanent desperate underclass with less union legal protections.
Yeah that just doesn't pass the smell test for me that they don't know anything or do anything about it. Seems like just repeating what they perceive their group thinks.
A liberal circle jerk is an impossibility because two libs jerking each other off would bicker about something minuscule and one would get mad and leave and break the circle.
Can’t tell if she’s trying to be an optimist or not. Pretty much sounds like drink some Hemlock and hope for the best to me.
I think she’s trying to counteract the narrative that physical self harm is the only way poor women in red states can attempt to terminate a pregnancy. It’s not “this isn’t a big deal,” it’s “stabbing yourself isn’t the only recourse.”
So is the democratic party planning on doing anything about this or are we just going to get upset on Twitter?
Well, they probably plan on fundraising, they will tell people, mostly black voters, to vote so when they lose they can then blame said black voters.
The saddest part of this is that the anchors themselves aren’t this stupid. They say something like that purely because they know the people watching ARE that stupid.
Probably won't do shit because the Democratic Party is pretty much in a kinda slow motion death. We could probably come up with a course of action they should follow in this thread that will be better than the one they will actually do. 1. Release an official statement crafted by a team of legal experts that dismantles Alito's opinion. That needs to happen soon, not after June. 2. Release an official statement (and then a huge ad buy) that fleshes out exactly what a national ban on abortion would look like. "Here's what medical procedures will be banned. IVF will be banned, or severely restricted. They will accuse women or women in your lives of having an illegal abortion if they have a miscarriage or even a heavy period requiring a doctor visit. They will require doctors to snitch on patients. They will arrest doctors for performing abortions or even for procedures that lead to the death of a fetus and charge them with murder or manslaughter. They will arrest people who help transport someone out of the country to get an abortion, even if the person had no knowledge the woman was getting an abortion." In my mind, running the fall campaigns on abortion as *the* single issue will work, but only if you drill into voters' heads how bad it would be if abortion is banned and criminalized nationwide.
This needs to be more than a statement. It needs to be commercials aired during every sporting event possible and it needs to explicitly blame the Republican Party for this dystopia. Also, they need to aggressively move on a federal law protecting abortion rights and expanding the court. Now.
Right. I fixed it. Huge ad buy. Really scare the fuck out of people with the truth. This shit is going to be draconian. Witch trial shit.
I bet Baby Murderin’ doesn’t meet the high standards of decorum Joe Manchin has to be discussed in the hallowed Senate Chamber.
People just need to VOTE so the Dems get control of the Senate back from the Republicans and we can start to consider talking about maybe possibly making some real change!
Def somewhat of an echo chamber on the board these days but for the most part everyone here is spot on with their opinion. Try listening to everyone’s perspective instead of putting your head in the sand. You might learn something like I have.
Can only get the bare minimum done with Manchin so need to not count him in anything basically. You effectively don't have a majority. Need to pick up a seat or two somewhere else.
Sinema is more than likely doing an internship on Elderberry farming. She’s unreliable anyways so maybe it is for the best.
Can’t we just keep the right to get an abortion and ban Supreme Court Justices with Italian sounding names?
People need to be coming up with ways to get around the voter suppression, particularly the ID thing. Someone can't afford to take off a day of work to go get an acceptable ID? Well pay them a full days wage, pay for the ID, and pay for the ride to the DMV, or wherever else an acceptable form of ID can be procured from.
it’s not just physically getting an ID that is the problem, it’s what is required to get an ID. Without looking do you know where your original birth certificate is? Would you know what you would need to obtain a certified replacement if you lost it?
The woman in Tennessee whose parole officer fucked up and said she could register to vote when she couldn’t and got 9 years in prison because of it (she’s recently been released) is downright evil. Prisoners losing the right to vote but being allowed to run for office while in prison is one of this nations great contributions to fair governance.
Yes to the first question. I keep mine and other important docs like social security card in a waterproof bag within a fireproof safe in my bedroom. Only way it goes missing is if someone steals the safe or I just straight up lose it. No to the second, but i've also never looked into it since I haven't needed to.
I’m going to guess a lot of people that don’t have a photo ID don’t own a fireproof safe with all of their documents from birth put in it
I’m beginning to suspect these mongrels of which you speak are not of the Landed Gentry. I normally get my second footman to cast my ballot for me.
The person’s employer also needs to agree to time off. Also lots of states end up with eligible forms of ID that are suspiciously racist. Almost like they do the ID thing on purpose. To restrict voting rights for minorities. Because that’s been a thing forever. They just try different ways that they hope are palatable for white America and judicial review. And there’s literally no reason. The amount of voter fraud cases is like, you’d be more likely to get struck by lightning twice. Literally that’s a fact. It’s a non-issue. I would never ever ever concede that point ever.
When one side is dealing in facts and the other in fictions, intelligent people will line up on one side.
Just noticed the Newsmax guys name is Stinchfield. That’s what DC ought to be called thanks to Trumps successful draining of its swamplands.
I bet when the opinion comes out they’ll remove the line about oberfell and say this is just about abortion. Then after the midterms they’ll hear a challenge to overturning that and will. And then it’s game on to all of the other cases that are fundamentally rooted in privacy tied to Roe
I enjoy the arrogance of someone saying it. It's always from an angle that people haven't considered this insanely stupid argument
This place lost its shit over the appalling accusation that a talented QB was paid 180k to play a very dangerous sport. So much cognitive dissonance was happening here thinking Auburn and Mississippi State were the only schools that would pay a recruit.
i'm sure being told "you're wrong and stupid" by like 20 people does feel like an echo chamber to those incapable of critical thought
