Pearl is a shitty coach. There’s very little coaching he does and just lets his guys jack up nonsense. He had a lot of quality experienced guards during his last run, we’ll see if he can maintain it at that level come March
He’s adapted, for sure. Back to back 20 loss seasons to start his tenure at Auburn is still pretty rough. I know he had some recruiting limitations on him by his own faults and took over a mess, but I don’t see it as much different from the awful situation Mike Anderson inherited with our abysmal APR situation removing a couple scholarships and also taking over a trash roster. Ive never been impressed with him from an X’s and O’s standpoint and his teams really struggled when the hand checking rules changed, and his teams really lacked much of an offensive identity. Credit to him for adjusting from what he did at Tennessee. His teams are run and gun now and he gives his guards the freedom to make plays and spread the floor. It’s fun to watch when you have the horses.

Cool. I’ve been around basketball my entire life too and played at a fairly high level. You can take the Truman tier digs at me for volunteering to coach kids and youth organizations and our HS program. I chose a different career other than coaching but remain heavily involved in various capacities.
