So what happens in the last 2 books? There are of course a number of theories about different topics but I really want to know how the Lannisters end up getting what comes to them. Of course its a tiny bit harder to hate them now that Tywin is dead, Cersei is humiliated and Jaime is a bit humbled, but they all still need to die at some point (accept Tyrion but I think he dies at some point as well. Guessing he dies doing something somewhat heroic but his life is too tragic to survive until the end)
I think so too, but as a Knight of the Kingsguard, not a Lannister. did Tywin ever make his denouncing of Jaime as his son public? I wonder who will take control of Casterly Rock (or if it will even matter in the grand scheme of things).
I definitely think Jaime dies eventually. But I think it will be a heroic death as he tries to right some of the wrongs he has done.
Defending who? Tommen? I just don't believe that Tommen will stay king for much longer and Jaime still doesn't seem to care too much about his kids.
yea I think it will be Tommen. I don't see anyone who directly opposes him right now (Aegon, if it's really him, will still take a bit to be ready to challenge the throne) and the Tyrells are very invested in making sure Tommen remains king.
What do I want to happen? Starks and Targaryens kick some ass. What will happen? Targaryens take back over, everyone else stays fucked. Bran lives in a tree.

Greyjoys are definitely hardcore but not in the 'I want them to dominate' way. Really my problem is that the only ones I really want to dominate are the Starks (all gone) and maybe the Martells but the sand snake chicks are annoying too. Really I'm just hoping Dany goes and makes it happen
Starks aren't gone. Jon will carry the banner and Rickon is still around. plus Littlefinger will eventually reveal Sansa's true identity.
...not sure Rickon is gonna raise the North...but for all we know he's not really Rickon, he's Rhaegar reincarnate and is gonna dominate some shit.

wouldn't like that much, mainly because we'd have to jump forward with Jon (not dead) and Dany too. Honestly now that I'm a bit removed from the books the only story lines I'm invested in are Jon and Arya. The Greyjoys were always seen as the bad guys due to Theon and now we're supposed to be on their team or something, Young Aegon is new, Tyrion is still intriguing but has little power, etc. Maybe I need to read again
I am somewhat I think I just got somewhat tired of it. We're all waiting for her to leave Mereen and besides Ser Barristan the people around her aren't interesting now that Strong Belwas isn't killing fools and Quentin Martell is dead
I'm much more disinterested in Arya's storyline than most of y'all it seems. I think just because she is so far removed from everything else going on right now and I don't really see how she fits in with the endgame I think GRRM is working toward.

Right now, I like to think of her sort of like Natalie Portman's character in The Professional (in a non-Lolita way). The kindly man or whatever is like Leon.
I'm hoping when Jon is reborn to fulfill the prophecy he's completed his obligation to the nights watch (because he served until death). Then wrecks the evils in the north and everyone in Westeros and eventually bangs Dany.
I'm not sure how invested she is in the temple of the many faced god. Its obvious they want her to leave her old self behind and not kill people because she wants to, but I don't know if the kindly man thinks he can take that away from her, but he continues her training anyway. It's weird. She'll have to be kicked out or something, but her story line is progressing so slowly it's frustrating.
in regards to Bran. I was just reading AGOT and I found something really interesting. Old Nan is telling him the story of the long winter and the first time the White Walkers came. she's talking about a lone hero (Azor Ahai?) that searched out the children of the forest in hopes that their old wisdom and magic would be able to win back the armies of the dead (wights) that had turned on them. as she is telling the story and how all the hero's companions have died and how it was so cold that his sword had broken when he tried to use it and the white walkers had smelled his warm blood, she gets cut off by Maester Luwin announcing the arrival of Tyrion and we never hear the end of the story. what I'm thinking is that maybe the children of the forest do have a way to turn the wights back from what the white walkers make them. our best evidence of this would be Coldhands. something is keeping him from being a normal wight and his mission seemed to be to bring Bran to the three-eyed crow, so it's not a stretch to think that some magic of the children of the forest made him what he is. so as for the future of Bran, maybe he will be involved not only as a warg, but as a link between man and the children on the forest in fighting the others. maybe there some magic of the old gods that Bran will able to harnass as a weapon against them. and if that original hero is Azor Ahai, and Jon is him reborn, who better than Bran to be able to reach out to him and give him help? just a thought I had that I haven't seen anywhere else (I'm sure somebody else has already covered it though).
Another line of thinking re: Coldhands that has been posted on here before is that when Benjen and his crew got attacked by the wights they were all killed but Benjen (like many of the other Starks) was a Warg and happened to jump into the closest Wight.
so I finished that Bran POV this morning and towards the end is the scene where he and Robb eat with the men of the Night's Watch in the Great Hall. during the meal, Robb asks Yoren about Benjen and Yoren tells him that he's been gone too long tracking Mance and is likely dead. Bran again thinks about the story of the lone hero that Old Nan told him, but this time he says he remember how it ends, and he blurts out, "The Children of the Forest will help him!" So we do know how the story ends and the Children did somehow help the lone hero against the Others. This definitely strengthened my belief in this theory that Benjen has been changed by the Children and that Bran will come into play with a way to help Jon or Dany or both battle the Others through the Children of the Forest.
i just wanna now if Arya ever gets Nymeria back so that they can wreck shit together. half the starks losing their wolves sucked big time.
i don't think there is any doubt that she will. I think it may be the thing that snaps her out of the faceless brainwashing she is going through. I predict they will eventually send her to kill someone she knows and she will be on the way to do it and run into Nymeria, who is apparently running shit in the woods around the trident
i really kept thinking when she was on the way north with Yoren that they'd hook back up around Harrenhal or something but GRRM wouldn't give me that satisfaction.
She will have a different face on, and no one will know it's her except Nymeria. GRRM set that up with the animals in the canals still knowing it was her when she was in disguise.
good call. these books are so long and i just forget stuff that i probably should remember in order to put things together across all the stories. hence why i'm rereading.
rereading with the perspective of all five books is like reading the book for the first time. you know the plot so you see everything else. I'm loving AGOT the second time through.
