First two episodes came out last night on Paramount+. Zoe Saldana is the lead and Nicole Kidman is in it along with a few other recognizable actors.
Yes, Morgan Freeman also. I watched last night. It was entertaining, but ridiculous. It requires a good amount of suspension of logic and disbelief. It was entirely too easy for Cruz to befriend her mark and some of the torture scenes just seemed absurd. I had forgotten that it was Taylor Sheridan release until I heard the bass at the end of each scene. That is such a strange trademark of his to use that in all of his shows. Here is the trailer... FYI, you can watch the first episode here...
I thought the last episode was the best episode out of a disappointing season. I expected more Spec Ops stuff.
I really enjoyed the season. I also thought the ending of the season finale felt flat. But overall I was into it. I don't mind the few creative freedoms and accelerated pacing to get into the story but let's hope they don't turn this into Yellow Stone.
So much suspension of belief and I felt overall they needed two more episodes. The one chaotic episode with their daughter/husband was not integrated well into the rest of the story. They revisited it in pieces, btu not enough, IMO. Also multiple parts of the story seemed so unnecessary like the attempted rape and the robbery of the safe house.
Just watched the final episode. Overall it was entertaining and I thought some solid acting all around. There was some added drama that really just seemed a bit unnecessary like the daughters car crash and pregnancy.
I thought they did a good job of showing how damaging the job was to her family without the accident.
Agreed. I guess those scenes filled a good bit of time and lead to an ultimate “breaking point” in the final episode when Joe is waiting on the yacht. Seemed like the writers wanted to turn the family drama up to an 11.
finally got around to watching this and I'm about halfway through the series. it's just so much better than krasinski's jack ryan (gave up after season 1) or that recent cia phone room show the recruit. the tonal shift from the lioness mission stuff to kidman and her husband's hushed conversation is weird but i really dig both aspects
Wait was the older soldier dude Sheridan ? Also this season is off to a good start. But man some of the jingoism is so cringey. It's probably crack for chuds.
Caught up and just finished the most recent episode. Spoiler we might have just hit the Sheridan jumps the shark point in the show.
Is Sunday the finale? I have enjoyed the season and in the Sheridan way think it’s highly entertaining, but if infiltrating the cartel is in anyway related to the success of the mission and Sunday is the last episode then it has to be a two season arc? Spoiler cruz gets hotter every episode to me. It would be very anti Sheridan to kill of the lead / big name actress but Joe dying and Cruz taking over the team or getting a team is definitely a nice runway to 2-3 more seasons without it getting tired.
Really fantastic season. Her team got fucking rocked but accomplished the mission. I would assume season 3 will be a deeper diver into the Mexican cartel or do we think we move on completely?
Great season even if the lioness/cartel story line feels like they forgot it was supposed to matter until like episode 6 and then had to scramble. so weird to have her be basically unable to do the job so pivot to attacking Chinese national in Iran? That was the script? I enjoyed it and think all you need is Joe/Kaitlyn/Byron and a bunch of shooters to be super entertaining, but still, weird. Cruz is very very hot. Sheridan giving himself primo air time in the first and last episodes as a Chuck Norris level Delta operator…so good.
Thought for sure Jo was just going to collapse at the end and that would be the transition to Cruz. Think they all just move a spot up the ladder
Just started season two and it's on a heater. Have 3 to go. The new lioness has the most insane body, literally said holy shit out loud.
Despite the bad acting, bad dialog, ridiculous plot holes, and plot path, that was fun. The new Lioness was pretty fucking pathetic though. The one thing she was supposed to be good at, she actually got shot down while doing it. Not really sure why we are supposed to think she is much of an operative going forward. Cruz all of a sudden had Yoda level wisdom also, but it didn’t bother me.
I think the new Lioness being bad is the point. She wasn’t vetted and picked by Joe. She’s likely never given that chance if Joe was selecting who was the choice.
It was definitely fun and the action set pieces were mostly well shot. The entire cartel plot was dumb and they didn't seem to know what to do with it. Add in a 5 minute monologue about how great bush was as a leader and it definitely needs less Sheridan.
Look I like the show but end of s1 was absolutely ridiculous Husband to be finds the biggest spy in the history of spies with a face running program At the same time, oil terrorist king happens to run into her in the kitchen and husband without security runs in there. Dodging hundreds of bullets after was way more serious of a scene Then everyone in DC is mad the mission was a success, also hate Kate’s husband good show to binge though
enjoyed S2 but not as much as 1. Found myself MUCH more entertained by Kelly, Kidman & Freeman's characters than the actual Lioness and her storyline
