Well the 17-game winning streak was nice. Hopefully Mo doesn’t use it as an excuse to do nothing in offseason but he absolutely will.
Well, Dodgers deserve to be in the next round much more than this team does. Not sure why Reyes was put in there at the end. Wouldn’t call it a great season by any stretch but got hot at the right time and played the best team in baseball in a winner take all that went down to the final bat. Maybe some pitchers will stay healthy next year.
I was looking for this thread the other day. I know he’s old, but I’m so glad Pujols is back in a cardinals uniform. I stopped following baseball closely when he left. Bought tickets the other day for the Phillies series in July. Damn tickets are so expensive.
Early returns on Marmol are good. Only playing Albert vs lefties, Moving Edman up in the order against lefties and not going to the same relievers every time is what you want to see. Giving Carlson a day off is good. Rotation leaves a lot to be desired, but cautiously optimistic so far.
He will pitch this season. He's already throwing again. I think you have to take the same approach as you have with Reyes. Dont count on his production. Anything you get from him is bonus.
The rotation will collapse at some point. It’s a long season. Either we get some pixie dust performances or they make a move or that will eventually catch up and doom us. I like the lineup a lot. And Marmol seems like the kind of manager who won’t lose games with dumb decisions, which is all I can ask from a manager. Ultimately comes down to the players we have, which falls on the FO. Wish I had more confidence in them to get what we need.
The front office is limited by ownership. They saw an extremely weak division and thought "what is the bare minimum/cheapest it will take to win it?" And that's what they do. Matz was a good add. The fact they didnt go get Stroman or another starter is infuriating.
Yeah, I’ve always liked Matz as a solid 3/4 and wasn’t upset with that signing in a vacuum. But as soon as they signed him I knew that was all they were going to do. With Flaherty being a question mark all year (even if he does come back in the near future), they needed to add at least one more dependable starter and preferably one who could even help anchor the rotation. Expecting Waino to keep this up all year is a big ask, but then I didn’t think he’d keep it up last year, either.
But they’ll roll the dice aiming for 85 wins and hope they get hot at the right time. It’s their MO now.
I didnt watch, only checking box scores, but Gallegos still isn't a closer. Great stuff but not enough swing and miss
I’m treating this as the general St. Louis thread. Any restaurant recommendations? Staying across from Busch. Besides Imo’s of course.
Grace Meat and Three, Pappys BBQ, Beast BBQ, Salt and Smoke, Vin de Set (better for brunch), Hamilton’s Steakhouse, Hi Pointe Drive-In
Hey dudes, starting to plan a trip to Saint Louis with the fam. Myself, wife, and two kids headed that way for a game and to see the city museum. Any recs on places to stay either around the ballpark or elsewhere? Appreciate it.
There’s a Hilton right next to the Ballpark which is a very nice place. Hyatt Regency probably a block or two away. Also nice. Union Station Hotel is pricey and not as updated as it should be from a room standpoint but there’s a ton of stuff to do for the kids within walking distance.
We always stay at the Hyatt which is nice and located right by the Arch, typically $50-100/night cheaper than any other nice place closer. It's worth it to travel a little further south of Busch for 4 Hands brewery and the neighborhoods around instead of downtown. Broadway oyster bar slaps as well on the way south
Raise your hand if you had Edman leading the team in WAR. He’s really improved from the left side of the plate. Credit to him

Offense is putrid. Went last night and today. Waino pitched a hell of a game last night, other than about two pitches.
