Favorites? I just finished the new one, 'Under the Dome'. Really good but the last 10% of it didn't do it for me
'It' is my favorite, and then 'Eyes of the Dragon.' 'Pet Sematary' and 'The Shining' are classics. 'The Stand' is really good.
Actually that's one of the very few I haven't Eyes of the Dragon is great but weird how he completely changed his writing style. Also crazy is despite the fact that I love SK books I've never seen or read either Pet Sematary or The Shining Both great, The Stand may be his best work to me although my personal favorite may be Insomnia
I would recommend reading 'The Shining' next. I don't really care that much for his newer books, but I've reread a lot of the older books numerous times. Just reread 'The Long Walk' and 'Running Man' from The Bachman Books collection last week.
Long Walk was one of the first of his I read. I love and hate stories like that since they're kind of like dreams. No background info, no context, just story.
That's true, although I hadn't thought of it. I enjoy the books that intertwine characters and events, It shares things with a ton of different books, and 'The Talisman' and the 'Dark Tower' series play off each other as well. Hell, maybe I'll do nothing but re-read Stephen King for the rest of the summer. Shares a premise, but the story is very different.
Yea that is pretty cool. There's a website that lists all the characters that have been in multiple books. I think IT had a ton
I'm beginning to wonder if that is a signature of King. The stand is an amazing book.....till the end, then your like wtf.
About 300 pages into "It" (I think its like 1100 pages) and its great so far. Character development with King is always amazing, he also never rushes things to get to the point most writers would be dying to put onto paper.
I loved the dark tower series. The first book is slow but it all makes sense later. The stand and 'salems lot are great also.
