Id go to the LSU game mickey... the Ark vs LSU game is always nuts and one of the better games of the year.
I'm pretty realistic when it comes to our season expectations, but I really think that if we beat Bama, we win the West. very excited about this season
Yeah I'm ready for football season to get here. I saw on Twitter that Peterson was on Shawn & Wally's radio show today. Shawn was commenting that he was all class.
Yeah everything is in our new apt but we haven't finished unpacking yet. I swear I feel like I've been living out boxes for the last 4 or 5 years. Oh and I need to sell my damn house in Arkansas. Not getting any bites yet though. Looks like ths is gonna be lucky all the way till December
yeah I'm his god forsaken landlord now He could technically be there till December. If I was closing when he was done then, I would be pretty happy. It sucks paying rent and a mortgage at the same time.
Hey everybody, Just decided on Arkansas for law school and will be moving out there in August. Was wondering if any of yall could help with a couple of things. Where would a typical grad student live? would it be as close to campus as possible, or do most get a ways away from it? I've been on the sweetser web page and they don't have much available until Sept 1st, which wouldn't really help considering classes start 2 weeks before. Does anybody know if those lindsey appartment communities, like the links are worth it, or too far away? Also, if anybody has any tips as far as social life there goes for the non-undergrad crowd I'd appreciate any of that too. Does everybody go to Dickson St. or is there somewhere the post grads go? I don't mean to sound like a snob, its just that in Austin, once you graduate you don't usually wind up at places where fake ids are readily accepted. If anybody could either PM me or just answer ITT, I would really appreciate it. Also any other advice would be great as well. Thanks.
Please believe I keep that place in pristine condition, I haven't even been there in a week or so. Waiting till second summer session classes start.
Haha yeah I'm not worried at all. I've gotta make a trip down there in August sometime to pick up / drop off some shit. Not looking forward to that damn drive. Hey I sent you a text back a few hours ago. There was confusion on everybodys part so no worries there.
WE are also thinking of going to the Ole Miss game. Any thoughts on hotels, places to stay. We have a RV that we could use as well. Any ideas?
Hey man, I just moved out here to start a doctoral program last year, so I should be able to help you. I ignored some of the advice ITT and regretted it. So... I lived in a Lindsey apartment. It isn't the end of the world, but it's overpriced, the management is turrible, and the apartments are incredibly bland. I just moved into a place I found on craigslist (just a condo in a small complex near Dickson) and I love it. Love it. If you're still in somewhat of an undergrad mode, I'd say Lindsey would be just fine, but if your schedule has gone to shit and you're having to act grown, I'd advise against it. Up to you, though. Hit craigslist hard if you decide against Lindsey. As for social life, Dickson is still where you want to be. It's unlike other college towns I've seen aside from maybe Athens in that the post-grad bars are intermingled with the undergrad ones. You can have a 30 dollar glass of wine at Bordino's, walk 20 yards out the door, and snag a dollar beer. It seems odd, but it really isn't. People just do their own thing. Folks are friendly, so despite moving out here sight unseen, I met some nice folks in various bars-- Theo's, Crowne Pub, etc. There's really a scene for any crowd. Go to sporting events. It's really easy to root for Arkansas here. PM me if you have any other questions or continue posting ITT. I'm walking down to the Farmer's Market to get my fresh veggie on.
I appreciate it Mickey. I think I'm gonna come out there in a couple weeks and figure out the living situation. I'm definitely going to try to find somewhere walking distance from Dickson to avoid cabs fees, DWIs and everyhing else involved with living far from where you booze. Craigslist is kind of dry right now, but I'll be checking it daily. I guess I'll kind of have to become somewhat of an Arky fan, which shouldn't be a problem considering I was only alive for 3 yrs of Arkansas being in the SWC. It cracks me up seeing some upside down longhorn stickers in Fayetteville, even the law school professors gave me shit for going to UT when I did a tour haha. I don't mind it though and I'll have 2 opportunities to watch my teams kick A&M's ass every season. I can't fucking wait for SEC football. Can anybody give me any insight into the Little Rock games and why Arkansas does them? Isn't it about 2 and a half hours away? I'm assuming people turn them into a weekend trip cuz boozing, going to a game and then driving back to Fayetteville sounds like a terrible idea. Thanks again
Yeah I remember the good ole Texas - Arkansas series. It was a hated but fun series. Both teams screwed each other out of several national championships from 1960-1989. As far as LR games, it is mostly tradition. Once upon a time, all night games had to be played in LR because there were not lights in Fayetteville. Since then though, it was tradition to play there. In the most recent years, there was a push to move all games back to Fay but that hasn't happened so we play a rent a win and one SEC game (either Miss St or LSU depending on the year) there. Oh and if you want to be insanity, go to almost any Razorback board (especially Hogville) and start a thread about playing games in LR. Take either side of the discussion. It is funny as hell to watch
Go to LR games Get blasted on the golf course Don't make it inside the stadium This was my schedule for every LR game from sophomore year through senior year
I think literally the only game I actually made it inside to was against LSU junior year when Darren split both safeties, one being Landry.
this should be blasphemy amongst arkansas fans. and if it's true, then it should be your sworn mission to make fayetteville games badass. no reason to make lsu or msu fans' drive shorter
The reason little rock games are fun is because they only happen twice a year, so each game everyone makes sure to go all out and get absolutely shit faced. Fayetteville games will always be better in my opinion. The golf course is awesome, but Fayetteville > all.
Must be real hard to keep your nose clean for a couple months, now you're probably not going to play this year
As far as from the time the game starts to the time the game ends, Fayetteville is better. Hell, if its after a game, Fayetteville is better (Dickson, Little Rock's River Market is horrible compared to it). But if its before the game, especially a night game, Little Rock games are some of the most ridiculous shit I've ever seen. I've thrown up/passed out on that course, fucked a wench in the woods before blasting on her face at that course, and pretty much anything else you can think of. It's a magical place
