Heesu have you been to the show you are going to yet? Where can John, Jeff and Oteil take this in the future...
I saw them in Detroit last summer. Seeing the last three shows of this tour - Cleveland & 2 in Chicago. It definitely feels like the Grateful Dead has become a thing that will never die. The music, and the culture will live on, long after everyone in the band is gone. I mean...look at these last few years starting with FTW - they have to be the strongest since Garcia died. Dead & Co is coming into their own, Phil continues to push the music further, JRAD, etc...
I went to Atlanta in 2015 and it was okay. Went to both nights at Fenway last year and that blew me away. I thought this tour started slow but overall they just keep getting better
Yeah, I think the last few shows have been at a different level. They're acting like a really confident band now...trying new things & listening to each other.
Really think it'd be funny if someone made a t shirt of Oteil sitting at a computer and then the back of the shirt is the "categories" section of a porn site with "scat" checked.
I had a blast and really enjoyed Stranger and feel like John and Jeff really nailed Loser and the Help/Slip/Franklin definitely the highlight of Lakewood for me
*Jordan shrug* Oteil scats more than any musician I've ever seen. Was hoping others would find humor in that joke... still hopeful.
Circled back to JGB's Let it Rock Vol. 2 today --- I had forgotten how much I loved Nicky Hopkins' playing on these tracks
Man, how fucking great is the opening animation > us blues to start the GD movie? Never fails to put a smile on my face.
It had been a long time since I'd watched the whole thing, so seeing it at the theater in April was pretty fucking cool.
No idea if it was good or not, but last night's set list. Really should have seen a show or 2 on this tour.
Just walked in the door from AthFest, packed a bowl and tuned in to h2ogirlnora on mixlr and the first thing I hear is the first chord of Help
There's almost always some live streams, if you're interested in listening to the whole show. Get posted in here sometimes, but they aren't too hard to find. /r/StreamingNow is great for finding lots of shows. In fact: Youtube description says the whole show is free tonight.
I will say that getting in and out of that fucking venue last night was absurd. Logistically, that place is a disaster. Good vibes all around though - a lot of good energy in the crowd.
Wonder why Bobby went back to a Fender this tour instead of the custom guitar he had been rocking /Freakthoughts
