I am not a guy to shit up a thread and make it about me like some posters, I just don't like them personally. Love what you love! I will get a chainsaw to the back of my skull tonight for my lack of admiration of the genre
I wouldn't say big difference but I think it brings back in some useful background details and, if I remember correctly, shows more of what happened in the basement. Though once could argue showing less is more given the, obviously, low budget and quality of the effects
Ashamedly, I’ve never seen V/H/S or Hell House LLC. Which should I watch tonight after the trick or treaters disperses?
I liked Hell House LLC a lot better. Good vibes. VHS worth a watch, but Hell House has great vibes and is one of the better found footage genre horror films.
I know it’s been discussed, but also highly recommend Tucker & Dale VS Evil. Comedic horror, but it’s such a funny film.
I think Tucker and Dale is actually funnier, but Shaun is the better film. Funny on its on, but it’s actually has great horror elements in the end. The last 20 - 30 minutes of Shaun is actually good horror and pretty dark.
Agree. And Tim Curry is amazing in it. Scarier than the new one one of my favorite rolls was Curry doing it
Hell House LLC was goooood fun. As far as found footage horror movies go, it was done pretty well. Of course there were a few plot holes but all in all it was very scary and enjoyable. Lots of high quality jump scares.
Finally watched Longlegs and thought it was fantastic. I feel like the absurd hype is what led to some folks feeling disappointed about it. It was never going to live up to that, but it was a really good movie.
Back to this one, I thought 3 was decent until the final act. That was bad. 2 and 3 just kept getting farther away from what made the first one great. They recaptured that with the 4th one though.
The first Hell House LLC and the original [REC] (not the American remake Quarantine) are all-time found footage classics. Alas, Hell House LLC is in my personal horror GOAT discussion. But I’m also biased towards found footage as that’s my favorite horror subgenre
I had low expectations for 4 after the sequential declines in quality for 2 and 3, but I was very pleasantly surprised with 4. Hope 5 that just started filming is able to be of similar high quality.
Yeah, they nailed it again with 4. RT has 4 the highest rated of the series at 88% while 2 and 3 have dreadful ratings. Probably going to watch 4 again tonight to finish the rewatch. Excited for 5.
I wouldn't really call it a prequel as it takes place after the first three. It goes into origin story stuff though.
Interview with the writers/director of Houses October Built. The 2011 film that was commercially unreleased until this year, don’t open if you don’t want to be spoiled about the movie. Spoiler It’s filmed in documentary style, but it was actually a legit documentary with real haunted attractions and the actors that work at them. That is until the final act when it switched over to a scripted horror movie. And Brandy the girl? She didnt get the script for the final act, she thought they were still filming for a documentary, wow.
