Was able to watch last night. Remarkable hour of television. Teared up briefly at the final wine scene. Offerman was really fantastic
i actually thought that was a nice way to illustrate how he changed after meeting frank. prepper bill would have been ready for (and probably waiting on) a raider assault because his sole purpose was survival. meeting frank changed that, and i think showing his panicked and poorly thought out response to the attack was kind of a subtle way of showing that his survivalist instincts had waned in the years he spent with frank. frank gave him something else to focus on
Looks like Part 2 will have more background info on the KC neonazi group and the two characters at the end Can’t wait
That was the best Ellie episode so far. It was nice of Bella Ramsey to soften her up some more. Excited to see how they've changed Henry and Sam.
i wonder how many QZs are safe. we start in Boston and it looks good. Frank said he was coming from the Baltimore QZ and it was completely gone (though Bill called him out for lying/being wrong direction-wise so who knows if it was true). and we saw the KC QZ here and it was dead. as usual, gamers fuck off
Just finished the game part with Bill. Definitely agree the show is better. Game Bill is fine for what you need, but the show gives him so much more depth
The first time I saw them it looked like 2 young boys. I was super confused (not a gamer). Went back and watched again and realized only 1 of them was a young boy.
I’m horrible with ages because I’m an old man now, but Henry was in his twenties I believe in the game. Looks like Sam is much younger though so they could have aged Henry down as well for the show.
One definitely is an adult and one is definitely a kid. Took me watching twice but I’m pretty confident in that now.
Forget about what they looked like. Just listen to the dialog about them. It was clear that Henry was an adult.
Thank god the game purists got their "why are these pages stuck together" gay porn mag scene, if only that was included in last week's episode.
Finally watched Ep 3 last night. Really good. I know it was a longer episode than the first two but I kind of wanted more of him building his compound. Seeing who Tess and Joel were getting the radio music signals from was a nice a way to tie them together because I was wondering where Bill fit into the Joel storyline.
I also have a tough time taking that actress seriously because I associate her with Two and a Half Men.
Yeah she was not good, or just miscast, or both. Someone in the other thread alluded to the fact that she's supposed to be intentionally out of place. I don't really get it. Like watching Megan Mullally as a dictator.
well the positive in this is that she’ll likely be dead soon. Seems to be most characters are going to be short term characters aside from Joel and Ellie. I should add I have not played the game
i've only watched the ep once and i didn't know her from other shows so i thought she was fine mannerisms-wise, it felt like they were going for ma-ma from dredd but ma-ma is deranged
She comes across as someone trying to act hard/tough even though that’s not who they are. She is out of her element and out of place. She comes off as desperate and on the cusps of falling apart.
I mean thats probably the point. Grief of losing her brother has her desperate looking for answers and who she thinks is the one who ratted himself out I don’t think this is supposed to be a well put together militia group but moreso a bunch of desperate people with a couple of them having military experience and capturing the right moment to take down a QZ
It’s funny to me that people are so quick to draw conclusions on Kathleen who had like…5 minutes of screen time? 10 tops? Maybe she’s supposed to be coming off this way, perhaps there’s more story to tell. The show has done a fantastic job with character development so far. Hopefully we find out more on Friday.
