They do you're right. I'm just saying they get pulled down into the weeds by republicans on a myriad of social issues. I mean, I don't know how to fix this problem. I just know that we need to get rural voters. And it seems like a lot of people just disagree.
Which is why I wish we would stick to the economic issues in order to fix the social ones. A majority of this country agrees with our economic policies (they just elected a populist running on protectionism) but they simply don't see eye to eye with us on other issues. And somehow those differences are keeping us from getting into power.
But what issues is it that you believe the democrats should focus on? Healthcare? Jobs? Education? These are all social and economic.
I've had long discussions with my Cuban family members about how they're no different from Mexicans as far as most white people are concerned. At best, you're a token Hispanic that is "one of the good ones" because you vote Republican. Either way, you aren't actually respected and any appreciation is just patronizing bullshit. I would have no problem with Cubans voting Republican if the party wasn't filled with awful shit sipping morons right now. But here we are.
that's what people in Miami don't understand. I guess it's different here because hispanics are the majority
I think we should focus on those things and not constantly talk about how disproportionately unfairly those issues affect minorities, even if it's the absolute truth. Because those issues disproportionately affect poor white people too, but bringing up minorities makes them think you don't care about them for whatever stupid reason. I hate that it's the case, but we gotta take those fuckers out for a nice steak dinner. That's what the republicans are doing, but they just buttfuck those voters one night then leave them the next morning.
Our system is broken. We give voting power and value to land over individual voters through a by product of slavery concessions to get the country founded. This has only been exacerbated in recent history as building a life and career in rural farming worlds isn't a reality. The % of farmers pre 1960 was like 70%+ of the labor force and now it's sub 5%. Manufacturing has gone from needing rural land and physical labor to needing the intellectual capital cities have. The wages for these jobs have also cratered or not risen with inflation after unions were murdered and free trade agreements (which afaik are still a net positive if companies didn't vacuum up all the profit). In a modern world where capital continues to congregate in metro areas and it draws the most educated people it creates further problems as the population shifts happen quite quickly so you give control to areas that are basically living off the money made in blue areas. We built the middle class on progressive policies that wouldn't get traction now. Then the people who used that social mobility kicked the ladder down behind them and tore up every piece of legislation that helped them get here. Our political system is archaic and not reactive to modern needs, our economic system has slid backwards since neoliberal economic policies took hold, and we're still dealing with the repercussions of Americas initial and still greatest sin. Basically every major issue in America comes back to the invented racism to allow slavery to last as long as it did then the failure to prevent Jim Crow from continuing disenfranchisement and subjugation through laws, then the war on drugs and clamors for "law and order" which are just extensions of Jim Crow after the VRA and CRA were enacted made it more difficult. People hate talking about race, but the reality is it has been and still is all about race in America. but man, we sure can war profiteer
Rural voters need to wrap their protected little minds around already being a minority, by reason of their address instead of being scared to death over being a racial minority on down the road.
Don't judge the source (Steve Mnuchin's mouth) BetterCallSaul , judge the content, where he can't guarantee normal Americans won't pay more under this tax plan. You know who will pay less though? The super rich. Where's the sympathy?
BetterCallSaul do you think slashing social security benefits to pay for the massive tax cut the wealthy are going to get shows sympathy for normal Americans? Still waiting on that sympathy. Remember, don't argue the source (left wing rag the Wall Street Journal), argue the content.
Just remember what Mick Mulvaney said we have to show compassion to those people that pay high taxes for these things to get done, like a single mother in Detroit. With that in mind why raise the age requirement for SS to 70 when raising it to 80 or 85 seems much more compassionate to the "single mothers" in cities like Detroit?

In 2012, Sherrod Brown beat Josh Mandel by six points on Obama's coattails. He faces Mandel again in 2018, at least a of now with no other Republican declared. First quarter fund raising, Mandel raised $320,000 in 2017. Brown raised $2.4 million in the same period and has over $5 million cash on hand.
