Tsitsipas clearly is nervous and not calm. Just being assisted playing against a guy with bigger head issues. See this alot with the ppl in and around Mouratoglou academy. Lot of ppl who dont have the mental side figured out. Why the Bollettieri comps miss the mark.
at minimum this is all wasted wasted energy/stamina for what will be needed on Sunday but first test is if he can get the train back on the tracks or if Sasha implodes for him
So what's the situation here, Russian guy is way better but is nuts and wildly inconsistent? His top end seems to be crazy good.
both are elite talents, next generation of tennis (unless the golden one never dies). Zverev *should* be further ahead in his development than Tsitsipas but he has always had attitude/mental issues + offcourt stuff too. Both ooze talent. Come from USSR lineage. Multiple majors in their future. Zverev was runner up at US Open. Cried his ass off bc of how hard his dad rode him. 2020 was best year yet. Tsitsipas is just immature/young. Needs to elevate his Tennis IQ. You'd want him to be further along if you are tracking where the golden generation guys were at the same age point. But his stock is worth buying over Zverevs imo.
Who should I like more between Zverez, Medvedev, and Tsitsipas? My eyes tell me Medvedev but no one seems particularly likable.
Could and should've been off the court in just over 2 hours. Now he's likely going to play 4 hours even if he does win.
In terms of on-court aesthetics and off-court demeanor, Stef is most likable of the three. But I love Med's style of play and edge. Turning heel in front of the US Open Crowd in 2019 was awesome. For me, it's Daniil, Stef, and then wayyyyy down there is Zverev amongst these 3.
Berrettini > Zverev from that age group. HIs forehand is lethal at times. Garin may be one that can steal a Roland Garros title too
if everyone got healthy this is the most difficult era to win a Slam in our lifetimes the legends have not exited stage left and the next wave is now coming down the pipeline (and the latter are all applying the physio lessons of the former to make the play grueling in 5 set formats)
I like Garin and yeah he could easily swoop in and get a French open. Once nadal and Djokovic leave it’ll be wide open. I thought Thiem would have taken the torch but he’s so mentally out of it I don’t know if he’ll ever be right again
Yea same, his timeline is somehow quickly running out. When it feels like it just began. He's going to be the face of the lost generation, 28 with 1 slam win. But credit coming from a unique country and doing it in this era.
Stefanos will have nothing left in the tank for Sunday. Compounded with some shoddy lumbering footwork and some already poor bouts of stamina. which is why his immaturity and nerves in set 3 have to get corrected...
Djokovic clearly outhitting Nadal right now. He’s been all over his service games since he was down 0-5.
