Yeah West Jet is fine and reliable. No frills without being a budget airline. They’re kind of corny because they brand themselves as a friendly, Canadian, every day airline, but I’d still fly them again.
I flew WestJet from Nashville to Calgary with a layover in Toronto a couple of years ago. I would say it is no different than any of the major American airlines. The one difference being it was propeller plane from Nashville to Toronto. The customer service was actually some of the best I have dealt with. They changed my return flight after I booked to a time that didn't work for me, and they fixed it quickly and easily.
I am going to give a new plan of attack my next long vacation where I plan to move around. I am going to pack one Large North Face duffel bag and that is it. Basically pack for 3-5 days and then just have laundry done at my hotel or something around the midway point. It might cost $60+ but I think it would be worth the convenience. Of course, this could be miserable and I might never do it again, but I am looking forward to it.
i check price of hotel laundry services, the variation is insane like the hotel we'll be at next week I had high hopes, its not a big chain, its not a crazy luxury hotel, but it charges $10 to wash a t-shirt flip side similar set up in Sydney and we got a whole laundry bag full done for $20 at the hotel
I know Airbnbs are not popular ITT anymore but ones with washers (and a few with dryers) were clutch traveling around Europe last year.
Coming to the experts for some help deciding where to stay over 7-10 days in the PNW portion of South America. Just me, 34-year-old dude. I'll be in the Peruvian Amazon 12/2-12/14 doing Ayahuasca and am looking to add on to the trip on the backside, so in the market for a relaxed, beach/nature (definitely not partying) focused destination north of Lima (Peru, Ecuador, Colombia). The current leader in the clubhouse is Galapagos Islands. Any Galapagos tips? Don't have a time table, so I can take as long as I need, tho I'd like to make it back home-home to Orlando by Christmas. Appreciate the help.
Experience Music Project Museum (EMP) right by Space Needle. It has some really cool Nirvana stuff like a guitar Kurt smashed, a picture from Kurt's HS art class, etc. One thing that's a little misleading as a fan of the monolithic "grunge" genre is a lot of the bands weren't from Seattle proper...it's more of a conglomeration of the whole northwest Washington scene. Like if they were really from Bellevue, you're still probably gonna think of that as Seattle if you aren't really from around there. Cliffs: I love grunge music too, been to Seattle twice, haven't seen too much grunge history outside of EMP but it's a really cool museum
I looked hard into the Galapagos, and think it'll fit exactly what you're looking for, just super expensive. Instead went to Montanita and partied my face off. Banos, about 1-2 hours SE of Quito, Ecuador could be good, too. Tayrona National Park on the NE side of Colombia also fits your criteria.
It's also not that difficult to buy some detergent and wash clothes in a sink, then air dry them. Done it several times. Of course, if you're in most non-western counties, you can have your laundry done in less than 12 hours for like $2
I’ve thought before that in SE Asia I could get away with packing no clothes and then buying a temporary wardrobe of stupid T-shirt’s and shorts. In Cambodia I could have bought a week’s worth of clothes for $10.
How important is the rental car? What are the other options for transport inter-country and how shitty are they? Probably about to book a flight into SJO for january and know very little about CR
Definitely do a rental car. Driving around was my favorite part. I didn’t see other options besides a bus.
Driving is incredibly easy and unless you are on a shoestring budget it’s the best way to get around. Spend as little time as possible in San Jose, but if you must...
Currently in Orvieto, Italy. I did that early yesterday morning and the clothes were still very wet this morning. Had to take them to a laundromat and dry them there. When the humidity isn’t high air drying works ok. It also works well when there are warm heating ducts on which to spread the clothes.
Yes but let me know the location/route. You can do 4 nights and hit the 3 spots I mentioned in my op. Costa is not a trip where you are beat up looking to get the hell out of there. You are wishing you had a few more days.
Thanks I needed that. Went ahead and booked 6 nights. Tons of research to do but thinking something like La Fortuna / Santa Elena / Pacific coast
I think this is the most common itinerary for most as it allows you to see a lot of different aspects of the country within a short time frame. I had a long write-up of our similar trip from maybe 5 years ago but I think it got lost in a crash. I know Jorts did the same itinerary a few months later.
I don't have as big of a desire for adventure outings (ziplining and the like doesn't do much for me) so really want to hike around the forests and see some wildlife and then spend a couple days on the beach. Surfing not important.
I'm headed to Las Catalinas in January for a wedding. My buddies dad I guess is the one that started the whole community. Interested to see how it is, I hear mixed things from him.
ive been near santa elana. I'd go south after la fortuna or go northwest to Tamarindo. Honestly, my route is pretty solid. 6 nights is perfect for it. Airport to La Fortuna to Manuel Antonio to Jaco back to Airport. Jaco last because it is close to the aiport and if you don't have much time for it, then oh well. You're passing little towns with bars and restaurants along the way on these drives. They are excited to see you. Don't rush. Turn a 2 hour drive into a 4 if you spot a sign for a waterfall, etc.
right when we left the airport I was a tad intimidated. swerved around a 7x7 pot hole for example. the gf is utterly useless. About 20 minutes after san jose, we started passing through small towns. I was in a "rush" to get to la fortuna and had my eyes steady on the gps. that was a mistake. pull over and grab a drink. also, the car rental I had offered a GPS handheld or maybe it was a Costa cell phone, I forget.
My MIL has booked a family trip (in-laws and baby included) to Vail the week of thanksgiving. VRBO rental. Do we need any sort of trip insurance? My concern is a storm makes Delta cancel flights and we’d get money back for those but not the house. Any recommendations? Do we need any at all?
Also, if you are not going to stay at the hotel I mentioned then def consider doing a day pass. You can swim pool, hot springs, go see sloths, do tube rafting, all on their land. https://www.thespringscostarica.com/ the background on my phone is still the view from the pool bar
I actually think I copied Duval 's honeymoon itinerary. We went to Arenal & stayed at Tabacon for about a week. We rented a Jeep & did a few day-trips from there, including Monteverde's cloud forest. Spent the rest of the trip in Manuel Antonio
heading to london/paris/amsterdam in a few weeks with the wife, what are some good places to eat while we're there?
The only time I’ve ever used trip insurance was for illness. DIA is extremely good about making schedule during bad weather, and I-70 rarely is closed. Are you flying DIA to Vail? I assume Vail gets enough traffic that they don’t fuck around. I’ve layed over in Denver more times than I can count but it was always because the Wyo airline sucked a big bag of dicks. Delta prob won’t give you any issues short of a massive snowpocalypse. Thanksgiving is fairly early for that type of storm, usually more of a Jan/Feb thing (dirty secret about Denver is that is rarely sees big dumps regardless of what’s going on in the mountains, have golfed in Feb often there).
Yo folks, Random question but: Every year I do an annual trip to see my folks in africa in 2nd half december, and come back in the new year. I do about 3-4 days in a big european city on the way home. Did london last year This year I'm looking at picking 1 of 4 cities: istanbul paris athens madrid I know its a generic question to ask which of those cities was the coolest experience, but for those who have been to a few, any recos what they enjoyed? I like sightseeing, history, and photography.
For history, definitely Athens and Istanbul (keeping in mind the current situation in Turkey). Istanbul is one of the coolest places I've ever been. For food, Paris then Madrid. Both of those would have more of a party scene, too, if you're looking for that.
Was really good when I went But it was also 2nd leg of Europa when they were a couple goals down so I think the crowd that actually chose to go was pretty fired up
yeah when I went their crowd was furthest from fired up of the 5 games we went to on that trip, and their stadium didn’t have much flair it felt like Levis
Anyone have good recommendations for all-inclusive in Punta Cana? Gf and I are looking at the the Melia resort and the Punta Cana Princess resort as of now
paris metro is so much dumber than londons some places make shit more complicated seemingly just to trick people into spending more money
I'm alone sitting with my empty glass My four walls follow me through my past I was on a Paris train I emerged in London rain And you were waiting there swimming through apologies I remember searching for the perfect words I was hoping you might change your mind I remember a soldier sleeping next to me Riding on the metro You wore white smiling as you took my hand So removed we spoke of wintertime in France Minutes passed with shallow words Years have passed and still the hurt I can see you now smiling as I pulled away I remember the letter wrinkled in my hand "I'll love you always" filled my eyes I remember a night we walked along the Seine Riding on the metro I remember a feeling coming over me The soldier turned, then looked away I remember hating you for loving me Riding on the metro I'm alone sitting with my broken glass My four walls follow me through my past I was on a Paris train I emerged in London rain And you were waiting there swimming through apologies - sorry I remember searching for the perfect words I was hoping you might change your mind I remember a soldier sleeping next to me Riding on the metro
