Ark, am I doing this wrong or something? I followed the directions on priceline but it is showing that ticket to be $1600...I just went straight to priceline I didn't download the additional software Has anybody been able the see that fare at the quoted price? Never tried this before
Whenever you see a flight deal posted you better be ready to book that day. I was able to get $740 flights to Cape Town but I made moves within hours of the deal popping.
Yeah my philosophy is know when or where you want to go, what you are willing to spend then just pull the trigger essentially immediately
The S Africa one was good up until last night. Was more like 840 instead of 746, but still. My buddy and I were thinking about it but he was reading some shit about crime rate in the last 2 years and they've been targeting tourists.
You can find those articles about a lot of places. You'd be fine over there. Just don't go to like El Salvador or Baghdad or some shit
I wouldn't not go to a country (outside of something like Saudia Arabia) because they target tourists. Anytime you are traveling you should be aware of your surroundings and be smart about stuff and you'll be fine.
My Colombian friends mom was straight freaking out about me and southside going to Medellin. I get it, her father got cut into pieces and shit and the endless destruction from when she lived there, but that was years ago Her: link to article from last year where some dude wouldn't give up his wallet while sitting in a cab with a gun and his face, then got shot Me: I'll be fine Her: you always say that Me: well when haven't I been fine... Her: blank stare
Stay in Sandton near Nelson Mandela Square if you spend time in Jo-Berg and you'll be fine. I spent a night there by myself and it was no problem at all. However, I wouldn't recommend wasting much time at all in Jo-Berg, and immediately flying your ass to Cape Town. Flights within SA are very cheap, and I think from Lanseria to Cape Town was like $76 back during the World Cup.
You should probably avoid Seattle as well, because this happened once. http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle...-3rd-and-pike-after-tourists-attacked-robbed/
#Airfare Deal: [AA] Boston - Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. $737 r/t. Details: https://t.co/RpiU0Bg8tM #travel
Might have blew my load in 15'... Nashville Austin San Francisco San Juan Los Angeles Boston Martha's Vineyard Rhode Island Dallas Vegas Colombia
Look up the test kitchen and make a reservation now. The book up months and months in advance. I couldn't get in but it is regarded as the best restaurant in Cape Town by far.
Anyone want to try and help me out..... Wife won 2 round trip tickets to anywhere in the US, all 50. Have to be used by June. In Atlanta so want to make the free flights worth wild. I'm not super pumped about Hawaii. Seems like a commercialized island that is far as fuck to get to. I'll take US/BVI. Alaska gonna be gold as fuck. Wife never been skiing but worried she'll hate it and kind of be wasted trip. Not sure there are any legit resort areas with non skiing stuff to do. SAN Diego maybe. If we can push it to late summer we might try to do San Francisco / Lake Tahoe. Any good recs?
San Diego/Orange County is always a good time. I'd still go to Hawaii. Just do your research and avoid the "commercial" areas
Alaska isn't that cold in June but I'd pick the PNW probably if not Hawaii. Getting the most of the flight value
One of the homies got engaged last night and it looks like an April 2017 wedding in Aruba so I'll probably hit a week there
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1XwkZi4jLpQqDxaY6IHHP5LpTWeZ51qgEA7s0Yw7F7Mk/edit#gid=0 That doc will be huge for anyone doing research imo. It's The Flight Deal's complete list of deals from 2015.
I just read about the way elephants in Thailand are treated and it made me super sad. No way I do that now
http://www.pataraelephantfarm.com/ this was the coolest thing we did in Thailand. It's an elephant refuge that rescues mistreated elephants and also provides a breeding ground. Can't recommend it enough. I had a mother elephant, so its 6 month old baby tagged along with us. That was a lot of fun. I've been there for work a few times and I've been shocked at how cool a city it is. It's beautiful and has a pretty good food/drink scene. I'll never forget the duck confit poutine I had at The Copper Onion. Park City is only a 20 or so minute drive as well.
Just applied for Global Entry today... figured it'd be worth it being able to utilize TSA precheck also Wasn't sure how to handle the previous addresses as I've never "officially" changed my address while in college.
Just spent my first night in Zermatt, Switzerland last night and woke up to this view with breakfast. This town is fucking awesome, though expensive as all hell. Would definitely recommend. [/IMG]
Guys that flew to Rio or Buenos Aires....I'm in Atlanta and flights out of Atlanta are absurd. Seems like I could fly to Miami separate and get pretty reasonable flights down. Looking to go in November to both cities. Probably 3 to 4 nights in each. I wouldn't mind to stretch it out and hit up Uruguay and Montevideo or Punta del Este
for rio and ba, I went through Dallas, so you could check through there too, but miami is prob much better. when down there, skip montevideo, but heard punta del este is awesome during summer. ferry between ba and montevideo is easy and then i think its only a couple hours by bus to pde
BamaNug I thought I remembered you posting that you had some trouble exporting your gopro video, that the studio was crashing? I'm having that problem now and having a hard time finding a solution. What did you do to fix it?
I am planning on flying from New Orleans--> Rio (connecting on that Delta direct flight through ATL) and theN Buenos Aires-->New Orleans (again on a direct return to ATL) in late June/early July. It's been moving from about $950-$1,150, but I'm using a lot of amex delta sky miles to pay for it. It's only like 65K miles (and you can get 50K miles I think for signing up, could be worth looking into). That direct flight to/from ATL is a redeye, too, so you get there at like 8 am. Just too simple to pass up.
Cool. Wife and I are doing essentially the same trip. To Rio, back from BA. Going to go in November. Will you be in Rio during the Olympics? Have you planned much?
I re-installed it and it fixed a lot of issues (also make sure you have all the latest updates, you can download it for free from their website). But when I add photos not from the GoPro to GoPro Studio, like iphone pictures I want to include in a video, it makes it kind of quirky. It doesnt always crash but it does kinda often. Just had to save my project often and re-start it. I probably re-started the app 20+ times while I was making my Peru vid. Just had to deal with it. I have read online that GoPro Studio as a video editor is pretty shitty compared to other video editing apps like a version of Adobe or iMovie (if you have a Mac). May be worth getting one of those if you haven't really learned how to use GoPro Studio yet; I spent a lot of time learning so I'm invested with that app for a little while at least, or until it just frustrates me too much.
Also, I had to buy an external hard drive because my computer didn't have enough room to hold all the converted GoPro vids, they take up a shitload of memory.
I'm actually going the month before, flights/lodging/everything else is a lot more expensive during the Olympics versus June/July. Just don't want to spend that kind of dough. My very rough plan right now is 4-5 days in Rio, then fly down to Iguazu Falls for 2 days (on the Brazil-Argentina-Uruguay border, supposed to be pretty damn awesome), and then fly to Buenos Aires for 4-5 days. There are 2 sides to Iguazu, Brazil side and Argentina side, each has pros and cons and are apparently fairly different experiences, haven't decided which Im gonna do or if I'm gonna try and do both. Each takes pretty much all day I think.
Just got back from Jost Van Dyke immediately followed by 2 nights in Anegada, BVI. In St Thomas for 2 more nights. Anegada is absolutey incredible. Only like 300 ppl live on it full time, best beaches and water I've ever seen. Spoiler Boned a really hot senior from University of Texas last night right on the beach in Anegada. May or may not have put it in her butt. She was an absolute freak
Yea, it's one of the top NYE destinations in the world. It absolutely lived up to the hype. I'll post a more detailed write-up when I get back. Out of control, all night. You also camp in tents you bring yourself on the beach rather than hotels/condos. Watched Bama smoke Mich St with a surprisingly large number of Bama fans, don't have the clearest memory of what happened after the game. But I do have about 15-20 min of GoPro footage from that night. Can't wait to watch it.
Bunch of old Bams were failing at ring game in front of Soggy Dollar, one saw me chucking after docking my yacht (new I was a Barner form Lake Martin) and said I couldn't do better. Knocked it on the hook on my first try, dropped my painkiller and bounced over to Mic for another. Love that beach.
My cousin who is my age may be joining me, but he won't know for sure if he can go for a few months. If he can't make it I still plan on going solo. The plan is to mainly do hostels, but I've also reached out to some people I met in Peru that live in BA and Rio (Maria, the lawyer from Rio, she's posted some pages back), so may be able to swing a free night or two while down there.
