I told my boss about Thailand as a subtle bug in his ear about taking 10-12 days off and he said, "SHIT if you're going that far you need to go for at least three weeks!" See if you can spot the subtle difference between that and when I had to threaten to quit my last job if they didn't let me take a multi-week vacation.
I almost just got a $600 voucher to get bumped just now but a family volunteered to do it for free. Fuckers.
Took a $600 voucher coming back from CO this summer. It only put me getting home about 4-5 hours later. No brainer.
#Airfare Deal: [DL] Atlanta - Johannesburg, South Africa. $763 r/t. Details: https://t.co/RSBkEBttFN #travel nonstop Mid may to august
Took a flight 20 hours to get from Miami to LA Wednesday, wonder what they do for the passengers. Probably a lot of nothing http://www.cnn.com/2015/12/24/trave...gers-long-day0530PMVODtopLink&linkId=19904217
Welp, looks like I'm going back to Cape Town. That is usually at 1800+ ticket. Damn that is a good deal
Anyone been to the British Virgin Islands? Thinking about it for the honeymoon and curious on any recommendations.
Then immediately fly to Cape Town... Or Durban... Never been to Durban. Flights within SA are cheap too.
Just dropped my parents off at the airport for 6 days in cozumel. My mom's first ever trip out of the country so she's beyond excited.
Gin Buckets or anyone else that has been to NZ mind giving me the rundown? The very tentative plan is to fly into Auckland and then immediately head down to Queenstown. Want to spend 3-4 days there before heading to Australia. Early ideas: 1) Fly/boat/fly over Milford Sound with Air Milford (gets rave reviews on TripAdvisor) 2) AJ Hackett Bungy 3) Shotover Jet Anything else you would recommend doing, this would be in late November? Also want to hike Mount Roy which is an hour drive outside of Queenstown, because gat damn:
Eat at Fergburger... Pretty good burgers, and the place is pretty famous there. I'd recommend Canyoning, because that's what I did and it was awesome. However, I wouldn't plan too much in advance though, because they have a million options and things to do that are very easy to set up when you get there. I think your list is solid, though. I'm so jealous. I've never been to a cooler place than Queenstown. If you stay in Auckland at all, I'd recommend renting a car and taking it to Piha Beach... It's an hour drive, and there is lots of cool as hiking and such. Nothing is around there really, so it's not a party at all, but I had a blast hanging out at the beach and hiking. Great for pics.
Look into heading further down Argentina/towards Patagonia. You're a big skier, right? Check out Bariloche. And if you're hitting up Uruguay/Buenos Aires, could be worth it to fit in Iguazu Falls.
So England has been pretty far down my list but I've got a pretty cool opportunity if shit goes as planned, and may be there in early may
I'm not really a big city person, so I had very low expectations when I went, but I freaking loved it. Awesome city.
Yeah, big skier for sure, but it would be their summer. It's not a definite, but I am going to start looking into it for sure.
Text from the girl I'm staying with in the VIs: "We just got invited to go from Jost to Anegada after NYE to camp and catch lobsters for 2 days. Do you want to go? I think we should do it." Um, yes please:
Anyone have any good 9-12 day itineraries for Thailand / Cambodia (Angkor Wat)? Anything with beaches included also potentially.
You'll have to fly into Bangkok, so go ahead and count on 2-3 days there. I never have a problem with jetlag, but with Thailand it took me a little while to acclimated; it's literally the exact opposite side of the world. From Bangkok you'll want to head north to Chiang Mai or south to the islands (flights in the country are really cheap), or both. I actually went to Chiang Mai and Pai and never made it to the islands because I loved Northern Thailand so much. Re: islands, Depending on the time of year you go, you'll either want to do Phuket (west side) or Phangan/Samui (east side). I did the same thing you're proposing--Thailand and Angkor Wat--and HIGHLY recommend hitting up Cambodia, at least on your way out. Ankgor is incredible. I bought 2 one way flights, from US-->Bangkok, and then from Siem Reap, Cambodia-->US. Just fill in the rest.
So this is actually happening. His parents house is actually up in the mountains in Guatape, so we plan to spend a few nights there and then do a few nights in Medellin. I'm so giddy right now.
There's so much to do in Thailand I wouldn't leave the country if I'm only there for 10 days You need like a month just to soak it all in
Anyone done Peru and patagonia to compare which is better? considering 6-8 days in either one in mid 2016. Leaning towards Peru due to miles and travel time. I think its about +5 or 7 hours extra to get to santiago.
Yeah Santiago is a lot farther. Got a friend in the Miami airport right now about to connect to Santiago
Went to Peru and did a 4 day hike to Machu Picchu in August. Was there for 11 days total, had an incredible time. Can't speak on Patagonia other than to say it'd be quite a bit more expensive.
Playing devil's advocate, you could make that exact argument for almost any popular destination ITT. There's definitely a reason Ankgor Wat is one of the modern-day wonders of the world.
Oh I don't disagree. Angkor Wat is somewhere I really want to go. But from my 14 days in Thailand or whatever and my planning of my next trip with the same duration, I'd have a real bitch squeezing in that detour
Anyone been to Danang, Vietnam? I am returning to Vietnam this Saturday, am familiar with Hanoi and HCMC, but first time to Danang.
I was in Thailand playing ping-pong in Ding-Dang. A high stakes game in some opium den. Turns out, these aren't the types of guys who like to lose. When I beat them, they beat me. They worked me over good. And this is hard to say. They held me down and shoved a ping-pong paddle up my ass. It wasn't the handle! I've been shitting pancakes ever since!
Along these lines I would highly recommend AFAR magazine. Very well done imo and doesn't inundate you with advertisements, or give you the feeling everything in the magazine is highly rated b/c of some agreement with the magazine, that several of these publications have
