Team adjusted enough in the second half to get it done. Defense really showed up for this one. Hopefully mccafferys calf is alright next week.
What a gut check game. Dallas losing Pollard was big, yet you still have to give it up to the Niners’ defense only giving up 6 in the second half. Offense did a great job keeping drives alive late in the second and in the third quarters to keep the defense from getting gassed in the fourth quarter. There was a point in the game I thought Dallas had a chance to take control, but getting that interception before the half and extending some drives at other times kept the game within reach.
I thought the Kittle one hander was a game changer. Brock got a little more loose and then some running space opened up.
Definitely not our best offensive performance of the year but made enough plays. Defense came up with big stops in the red zone, the second dak pick and holding them to 3 off the punt fumble were massive. A true grind it out playoff win. I’ve felt we’ve been on a collision course with Philly since the end of November. They’re a hell of a team and really don’t have any glaring weaknesses. Their crowd will be fired up and the toughest environment we’ve faced all year. It’s what you expect when you get this far. Let’s go up there and spoil the party and get to Arizona.
Should hopefully have more success on the ground than yesterday. It’s imperative to stay out of third and longs after the pass pro struggles yesterday.
Hopeful but Dallas’s run D wasn’t supposed to be great either and the line struggled hard. Only other positive I’ve heard is the eagles are a little smaller at linebacker/secondary side note today I learned Fred Warners first name is actually Frederico and I will be using that from now on.
How are you guys feeling about this matchup? We really haven't played a true RPO team this year (with a healthy qb) and their passing game is suited for our weakness, AJ Brown might feast on our corners. I guess we played Mariota? but that feels like forever ago with a different team.
I think we need to give up the pass rush a bit in order to keep Hurts in the pocket don’t push upfield too much and over pursuit, and let’s see how good Hurts is as a pocket passer……we gotta run north and south and pass over the middle get those bubble screens gone, run behind Trent and special teams can’t fuck up and let’s see what we got
I feel like this is going to have a classic russ wilson vibe to it lol, going to want to throw my remote multiple times. I agree with you in regards to letting off the pass rush seems like hurts gets rid of the ball pretty quickly too. Really curious how this team will do against the run and how we'll do rushing the ball. Sounds like mitchells been limited in practice and mcaffery has been fine.
Think the Eagles are top 3 in 20+ pyc and the Niners are the 5th worst at giving them up. Curious how many of those big pass plays from Hurt’s come from in vs out of the pocket.
I have no clue what to expect. We could get a blowout or a best football game in the last decade, neither would shock me.
On defense Hurts hitting big plays downfield to Brown and Smith is my biggest concern. They’re too good to be shut down but Ward and Lenoir need to limit the deep shots. We have to get off to a good start. Purdy has been fantastic as a rookie with no expectations but it’d be a lot to ask to have to come back from a like two score deficit up there.
Gotta get the run going early and create turnovers on defense. Go down 14-0 or something in the first qtr and we're doomed.
Mitchell and Drake Jackson the most notable inactives. Love Mitchell but have to move on from him. Can’t stay healthy for more than 3 games in a row. Anyways need to get the run game going and help ease up routes to help Purdy. He is going to be pressured more than Dallas last week. On defense have to hope Lenoier and award are up to the task. Have a feeling they will be picked on a lot.
