House is that bad. All he does is agree with Simmons all the time. You can 'not be a bad guy' and still be horrible as a podcast guest.
i don’t hate Bill but what fun is a 1.5 hour podcast where the guest and the host just agree on everything?
I don't hate Bill, I wouldn't listen to some of his content if I did. I just don't don't need one of his buddies going "no, you're absolutely right Bill" for 90 minutes.
I don’t care for a lot of confrontation in my podcast listening. I like Sean, Ryen and Chick going back at him more than House but most of my podcasts are non debate or confrontational like Stuff You Should Know or Conan.
I like Bill and I can't stand House on a podcast with BS. It's just not interesting and an echo chamber. I don't need manufactured debate but they agree on everything and House doesn't even have anything interesting to say.

Bill terminating Geoff Shackelford while letting Joe House continue to run a golf podcast on his own was just as bad as letting Joe House do an entire podcast pretending to cover America's food/restaurant scene.
just told him to kick rocks. Shack posted he had no clue what happened, one day Bill suddenly was like adios and Shack thought it was strange timing. Also think he made fun of House getting to retain the show on his own....but their dynamic was always a bit off minus the times they could run through the betting odds.

Think Shack was told they wanted to feature more in-house Ringer personalities on the pod so now instead of getting one of the most plugged-in golf insiders we get some 20-something Ringer chick talking about Phil Mickelson's zany mid-life crisis Instagram videos
love bill's pod and have been listening since the beginning. have definitely skipped the bulls recaps with ryen as idgaf about basketball takes from 20 years ago love the jacko pods. i know i'm in the minority the binge mode were good after game of thrones so i could learn about some stuff i missed. but those two are pretty annoying i pretty much hate every other ringer podcast.
75% baseball and 25% political. i think he's pretty funny also i've been listening to him for 15 years
i get the Ringer is basically a cult of personality business around Bill but the inability to really build sports coverage outside of things Bill is interested in is astonishing like they keep failing at anything resembling CFB coverage
After NLU and the Trap Draw, plus the new Max Homa pod, I'm pretty much at my limit for golf content lately. Somehow all these years later I still pretty much like all the NLU guys so that goes against the theory that you end up hating anybody you listen to weekly/daily after a while.
Redraftables as a concept is pretty damn thin. Give me a draft year, I’ll pull up the Wikipedia and tell you the order guys should have been drafted in about 2 minutes. Do a rewatch of Cheers or Seinfeld or draft your all time 90’s sitcoms characters and how hypothetically they’d do as a basketball team.
they had that holly anderson person for awhile but she was v annoying. bill and sal is must listen for me. not because i think they know about football but just because they have good chemisty. i think my favorite thing at the ringer is parent corner

Yea thats been the most disappointing part* of it for me. And there were some real opportunities Bill had to stake a claim in some of those areas, he just never cared to make any real commitment/investment. Like Zero said, he had one of the most insightful,in-depth golf reporters and just cut him loose for the $ (around the same time he gave his teen daughter podcast run on fashion/music/lifestyle). I think the Dave Chang podcast is great, but also think they could scratch that surface more with how personality-driven the restaurant industry has become. *Beyond the entire shift from a website with great writing website to just a podcast network with some complimentary writing.
she's the only person I've ever been blocked by on twitter...she was having a meltdown about people covering the Grantland demise and I responding asking isn't that what reporters like herself do when coaching staffs etc. lose their job. Same, I think they got rid of Shack because Callaway didn't like his snark re: distance increases but made it seem like it was to use more ringer people. I haven't listened to it since and yeah I filled the golf content void with NLU.

why would the Nets take Payton #1 when they already had Mookie Blaylock and desperately needed an impact big? It's easy to sit there and look at a draft and figure out who the best players were but you're not looking at what the team's lineup was at the time, who the coach was, what was the team's philosophy, etc. Bill and his team do
Nostalgia is definitely a big part of why I still listen to Bill with Sal/Jack-O/House year after year despite knowing that they will be largely deferential to his terrible takes.
the big picture, the watch, and the rewatchables are the best podcasts the ringer has just because of the discussions had on those pods. sean and chris are great hosts/guests.
I don't mind House himself but ultimately he's just Bill's friend. He doesn't add much. I also find his voice to be really grating for some reason. It was better when he called into the BS Report I don't really have much memory of Jacko other than him awkwardly bringing up that he was a Republican some years ago when he and Bill were talking about something completely unrelated to politics
I don't mind House as much when he's the 3rd guy if I like the other guest. I don't see the point in listening to a pod with him as the lone guest because the only thing he brings to the table is being Bill's friend. I don't have a beef if a guest agrees with Bill, but House just isn't smart enough to drive convesation. House also brings out this weird thing in Bill where Bill feels the need to tell me what House was thinking in 1994, even though House is on the podcast and could tell me for himself what he was thinking. He did that at least 4-5 times in the RewatchaBulls pod with Russillo on the Bulls/Bullets series.

House’s voice is my biggest issue. Kind of the same with Bill. I preferred Bill as a writer over any medium. That being said my favorite Ringer podcasts are when it’s Bill/Ryen or Bill/Sean/Chris.
I find House, and especially Drunk House, to be imminently entertaining and will happily listen to his appearances 3-4x just to torture the fun vacuums who don’t feel the same. His opinions on football are hot garbage, but his b-ball, food, and golf takes are good enough to keep him online. I spontaneously started watching The Wire at the same time Van/Jemele’s show debuted and have enjoyed it so far. It surprised me because while I like most of Lathan’s work, Hill usually affects me like nails on a chalkboard. I still have serious issues with their “I love this show BUT...” legal takes, and their characterization of Levy as a good attorney, but overall they’ve done a great job.
Same here. Didn’t realize Jacko was so disliked. His takes are typically not very in depth. But i like his and Bill’s rapport with each other.
