Heard that it's banned here for all victorian Government officials on their phones. That knocks Control on his head.
What the actual fuck are you talking about? Don't tag me in something that I have no fucking interest in!
Still don't have the app on my phone, but I love Graeme. He's the only person I've ever checked to see if they've put out new Tikky Toks.
Not really sure why I opened this thread because I don’t have TikTok, but a friend told me about this and he watched the entire thing. He really enjoyed it. I watched the first hour on YouTube when I was bored on a business trip one night. It was fairly interesting but 5 hours is just too much. I might continue watching when I travel next but not sure when that’s going to be.
my dog would bite this guys face if he tried to "adjust" her neck. chiro seems pretty junk sciencey already... and now you bring a german shepard into the mix
Bytedance is a Chinese company ran by a Singaporean but TikTok is not a chinese app RedNote is actually mostly ran by and used by the Chinese
I'm not really understanding the Tiktok ban...If there were such security concerns then why as of late November was there "At least 49 members of Congress, five officials in President Joe Biden’s administration and President-elect Donald Trump with verified TikTok accounts"? Its' been banned on government devices for over 2 years. I think I saw concerns of them controlling what is seen/influencing Americans but Twitter, Facebook, etc. have been doing that forever. Twitter especially more so under Musk. I guess it's fine to be manipulated by our own?
There wasn't a large consensus until Israel's latest genocide against Palestinians where a lot of consumers of TikTok didn't see a bunch of Israeli propaganda fed to them like they would on major news networks.
Banning TikTok will lead to this being my only place to get information. It’s not so bad since it’s all garbage at this point. I skip more than I watch.
My TikTok algo is basically Vine, just complete mindless humor. I'll sometimes go there for reviews/insight on products, vacation spots, restaurants, etc. I'm probably better without it but it's a good escape.
Gov't banning TIkTok that has near zero true harm while ignoring massive issues in this country is just about as American as can be.
I don't have an account and likely never will but I thoroughly enjoy people linking funny videos. Like you said, it's replaced Vine and there's some great content on there.
If he makes it suck and the Zoomers abandon it hopefully he gets into a level of debt where he'll get redacted.
No? But I do think users of an app that skews younger will find a way to work around the app being taken off app stores. I'm sure VPN usage skyrocketed in Florida when pornhub was taken down 1/1 too. Regardless of the precise route the government takes to block TikTok, there will almost certainly be ways around it, for example, by using a virtual private network, or VPN. A VPN is a program anyone can download that can hide location data and make it appear as though the user is accessing the internet from a different country. “Many other countries have blocked social media apps and websites in the past using a variety of different methods, with a very wide range of results and levels of effectiveness,” Galperin said. “In Turkey, for example, a lot of social media sites have been blocked for years, and having a VPN that gets around that censorship is something that nearly every single person in Turkey does.”
