Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! On wireless so links don't work. I just think we're making the rosters too deep and too specific. I think we'll end up with most of the league not active by midseason bc most don't follow it enough to keep a decent roster once injuries and call ups start to happen. I'd prefer c, 1b, 2b, ss, 3b, 3 of, 2 util and call it a day. I'll play whatever you guys want, though.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! Let whiteknight decide so we can make sure it fits his definition of standard.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! Haha. You ask for opinions and I give mine and say I'll play by whatever, and you get your feelings hurt. Nice. Don't ask for opinions if you're going to be a dick if someone isn't a fan or your choices.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! No, it's the way you handle it. I've tried to post in here quite a few times that I want opinions from you all. In fact, I changed pretty much everything (only not doing it when there were differing opinions from other owners) that people said regarding the rosters/scoring. Don't say things like "90%" of the leagues use one thing when that's not true and what we're doing is standard. I'm open to your roster ideas if other people are as well. I've felt 5 OF is too many but never got that from anyone else.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! Sorry if I came across as a dick. Hungover and in the car for a couple hour drive home. I thought I was pleasant by saying I wasn't a fan and was basically told to stfu and it wasn't changing, though.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! "Exactly. We're going to have it. I'd rather have that than 2 more utility players." is what I was referring to. Not sure why you asked for opinions and then come back with that when all I said was I wasn't a fan of it.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! That was me being a dick, my bad. I just know that the dual position thing is standard and that's why I said that. Now we know where you and I stand on it, what do other people think?
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! 5 OF's is retarded, so is having all 9 pitcher spots active and 1b/3b and ss/2b, wasnt like that last year, 3 SP and 2 RP everyday and 2 util and thats it imo
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! That is just stupid. By the way, here are last year's settings.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! So it was C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, 3 OF, 3 UTIL, 9 P, 5 Bench, 2 DL
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! I like that a big more :twocents. But I like the idea of splitting the pitchers into SP and RP
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! You can't do holds with only 2 rp's. Thats fucking stupid. And it's fucking stupid in general to have just 2 rp's.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! He's talking about Zap's 3 S/2 RP idea.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! fuck off faggot, you would think only having 2 would require more strategy but hey what do i know
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! but then teams get 2 closers and holds is irrelevant
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! Its not like a lot of thought were put into last year's settings, the league was pretty much throw together Deeper rosters separates the men from the boys when it comes to spotting sleepers if the best players in the country use a specific format, I wanna test myself against those settings, not make it easier
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! Holds is a scoring category for relief pitchers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hold_(baseball)
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! exactly. So teams would buy 2 closers(who never get holds) and the category wouldn't matter. But in category style fantasy baseball, holds is a big time stat
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! gotcha, never even heard of this, holds sound stupid, and WHOA WHOA WHOA HOLD THE HORSES, this is the real settings from last year i knew i wasnt crazy, we are looking at two different mainboard leagues
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! Guess we just had different settings in the 2 leagues.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! H/T's league was obviously the best league
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! Personally, I don't want to have to put THAT much time into it. This is a free league with no money on the line. I don't want to have to pay attention to daily roster moves and injuries for all 30 teams in the league to just have an active roster. If you want to have a super deep league that requires that amount of time, hop in a money league. If we're doing this just for fun, having super deep rosters is just a bit much and we'll end up with half the league not active by the all-star break. 5 OF's and 9 P's is just too much for the casual fan turns the game into "who puts more time into it" competition.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! We've discussed moving it to 3 OFs and 2 util. 9 pitchers is standard. Just the breaking it up into SP/RP that isn't. It doesn't take that much thought to do that.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! I like what was posted last. 1 C 1 2b 1 SS 1 3b 3 OF 1 Util 5 SP 2 RP Deep bench Screw holds, too.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! Yea, I was just replying to his post. 9 P's is a little much for my liking, would prefer 7, but I can deal with it. There's enough P's out there to do 9.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! I disagree, the only thing that requires really any substantial time is draft prep, and most in this league (I'd imagine) are in other leagues, so they'll already be putting in prep for those other leagues in the first place. If we do weekly blind auction waivers like we did in the H/T league last year, then people don't have to even check their team THAT often throughout the week, unless they use a lot of their bench for extra SPs. If there's anything I learned about fantasy sports, in particular fantasy baseball, it's that keeping 12 people active throughout the entire season just isn't realistic. Half the league realizes they are out of it by August and ditches. In my main fantasy league, we switched from rotisserie to H2H because we thought it'd keep more people active, turns out the bottom 4-5 teams were just as active as they were with roto, it didn't make a difference whatsoever. So instead of trying to accommodate those that may be on the fence about being active, I believe in accommodating those that know they will stay active.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! this is what the league was last year and this is who played lolwrongnumber Destined For Last Team jkun Team blueandwhite canefan561 canefan561 Contract The Buccos Team b Hello At The Show Team Trickle Team LeBuis Team Truf 20/20/20/20 StinkyP1nky All-Stars Kitten Mittens
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! We know who was in the league. This league is a mix of that one and ours, which I posted the stats to.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! screw that noise dbl, holds will be involved in these leagues
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! i dont want to play the other leagues settings, they're garbage, that is my fucking point
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! Like I pointed out earlier, just look at the numbers if we use 5 OF. On a day that all MLB teams play (which isn't every day), there's 90 OF's in use. Of those, maybe 70 are everyday guys and the rest are platoon guys. At any given time, you're going to have at least 10 (pr more) of the everyday OF's on the DL. That leaves roughly 60 everyday OF's for 60 active roster spots in our league. That means you have to pay attention to every OF situation, who's getting the AB's, every OF injury, every team's platoon's and who's playing that day vs a RHP or LHP. Fuck that noise. I have no desire to follow it that closely. This is supposed to be fun, not a damn job. I'd prefer to have my 3 starting OF and a couple everyday starters on my bench for when one of my 3 starters go down. Same with the 2b/SS and 1b/3b discussion.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! They weren't last year. Holds are just retarded. Stick with SP and CL and screw the middle relief. I don't want to have to follow who is getting the 7th inning work for the Pirates in August.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! rv, don't give into Zap and dbl not wanting to adjust to add some difficulty to it
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! I think they have a point with the 5 OF thing.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! I'm ok with that. I'm arguing the 5-2 pitchers with no holds
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! My biggest beef is changing the setup from what we started with. If the league had 5 OF, 2b/SS, and 1b/3b last year, I never would have signed up. Now, after combining leagues, we're going to completely change the rosters and scoring? I don't see the point in that. If some of you guys want super deep rosters and 100 scoring categories, go start your own league. Don't go changing this league in year 2.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! 100 scoring categories? We're adding two, so it's a 6x6 league, a set up that numerous leagues use. And I understand the roster side, I would be completely ok getting rid of 2B/SS and 1B/3B, as well as dropping OF to 3. I think we can do three OF and three Util
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! Were you even in the league last year? Are you in it this year? If not, just go make your own league and do whatever you want with it. Changing this league from a fun league to a super deep league after a year just doesn't make sense, though.
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! i wont budge, 3 outfielders, 3 starting pitchers and 2 relief, i think holds sound stupid but thats the one im most lenient on
Re: The Mainboard Fantasy Baseball Champions League--UPDATED OP! And when we decide on holds, using 2 relief won't work. You can have the 3OF, but switching it to 3-2 on the starting pitchers isn't happening. I have played fantasy baseball for a long and never used or heard of using only 3 SP
