Just started this with 5/3/1. Swapped the facepulls for DB shrugs. Easier on my jerk ass forearm that’s still bothering me.
Was out of the gym for a week because of a work trip and then family being in town. Felt good to get back in today. I will feel like shit tomorrow.
You need more volume in the 80-90% range. Take a look at Prilepin's chart and base your reps/sets on that. http://ambesc.com/lifting/prelipins.pdf For example, based on Prilepin's Chart, you should be hitting a total of 15 reps (3-4 sets or 4-5 reps) per workout when you're lifting in your 80% 1RM range.
That sucks. Unfortunately, I've been dealing with some knee tendonitis, so a week off probably wasn't the worst thing. Of course, this morning after working out I'm feeling it again. I think it's the squats and doing more weight/volume than I have ever done in my life. HALP
Just got some Jym Whey -Tahitian Vanilla Bean. Delicious. But this is the clumpiest powder I've ever had. It sticks to the mouth piece of the blender bottle, it takes forever to dissolve. I don't know if this is just a bad batch. Anyone else used this product?
Blackjack workout today: 21 sets of 65lb. dumbbell presses and rows on the incline bench, starting at horizontal and clicking up one notch every set all the way up, then down, then up, yada yada until 21 sets. Probably too crossfitty for most here, but I like to think of it as a variant of GVT instead; not going for time, just for pace.
A good gym environment means there's people to chase. If you're the strongest you need to get the fuck out of there.
Worked out this morning next to a woman who looks like Evangeline Lilly and sounds like Olivia Newton-John. I'm not going anywhere.
Currently in week 2 of 5 of a high rep mesocycle (sets are anywhere from 15-30 reps). My legs are toast, but looking forward to the gains.
Just 2 now. A quad focused day and a glute focused day. I'm still recovering okay before my next sessions, but at the end of the workouts I can barely walk.
False. There's a guy at one of the golds here that looks like Ronaldo but 6'2" ~215 and ripped as fuck. nothing but haterade for that dude if he's not a model I'd be shocked. it's like someone put Ronaldo's face on top of a body that's a mix of Ronaldo and Laron Landry. Spoiler I steal plenty of the exercises he does
Have added farmer walks recently, up to 40-50 yards with 200 pounds of dumbbells. Fingers take a while to get back to normal afterwards.
My hips have a tendency to get fucked up if I'm not careful so I'm doing narrow stance high bar squats this cycle. They burnt like hell today, but at least I'm not injured (yet).
Can’t figure out front squat yet. Did the machine that simulates it a bit. Great workout today. Legs will be fucked for a few days.
Same. Don’t have the wrist mobility to get hands under it. Doesn’t feel good just resting on front delts.
I love front squats, even though my PR is only like 255 I think. Today was the first day back in the gym in about 18 days. Thinking of starting Juggernaut Method 2.0 in a week or so once I get my sea legs back. Speaking of front squats, this deserves to be reposted:
squats 165 5x5 felt terrible sets 1-3 and 4-5 we're really good. found a really good spot in between high and low and narrowed my feet a little bit Bench 165-5,175-5, 185-5, 205-5, 215-11 left shoulder felt out of wack and couldnt keep my left elbow in until my last set. there's no pain just a little pinch. probably didnt help with all the booze I drank this last weekend and being dehydrated
I think this is a big thing for raw lifters. There's a lot on the web about wide feet and sittingback but that comes from the multi ply guys. A more narrow stance and more forward knee travel are keys for a bigger Raw squat
Still cruising on my 5x5 routine. Busted a mental block on squat at 185, did the 5x5 at that weight today with the minimum rest between sets. Felt strong enough to do 200+. Followed that up by a 1rpm of deadlift at 315 today which is a PR for me.
Did a mostly cables workout today, it was pretty tough. We'll see if it does anything, only free weights I did was a 5x10 of 95 ohp
Hopefully, my elbows have been killing me for a week(went from 3-4 days of right elbow and now it's the left). Would love for something else to be sore.
Not really sure, feels like I'm overdoing it but doesn't seem like I'm risking injury like I've been recently with my interior shoulder and too many flies(which I've quit)
Fresh off a deload week and the legs are amped. Deadlift 5x5 @ 265, did get 8 on the last set too. 6 weeks ago I did 5x5 @ 185
